The Ph.D. graduate in Romance languages is a highly qualified specialist trained to conduct research work in his/her field (the linguistics and philology of one or more Romance languages). He/she is able to interpret these languages in a qualified manner, applying a synchronic or diachronic approach and utilizing modern linguistic methods and research procedures.

Undertaking doctoral research allows you to develop in-depth knowledge while making a meaningful contribution to your chosen field. With guidance from our expert supervisors, you'll carry out extensive independent research culminating in a thesis of up to 100,000 words. Broadly speaking, the area covered by the Institute’s expertise is within the fields of French and Francophone, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, and Latin American/Caribbean studies; Literature; Cultural studies; and, Comparative and interdisciplinary studies are also available in several subject areas.

Joint program with the Slavic Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, a public scientific institution. Training takes place in Russian.

The purpose of this work is to prepare highly qualified teachers and researchers in Turkology, especially in Turkic linguistics and literature. The course includes training of specialists, transcribing all the written monuments of Turkic languages from ancient times to the present, the training of researchers in historical Turkic dialects.

The doctorate in Slavic Languages and Literatures is designed to prepare students for a career in teaching and scholarship at the university level. It provides a thorough grounding in Russian literary and cultural history as well as in the theoretical perspectives current in the field.
