The Doctor of Marketing (PhD) objective is to help students prepare for a career in marketing by providing the right tools and knowledge. Also by having a PhD the students can choose to do academic research or teach in their chosen field.

The purpose of the Ph.D. in Marketing Management is to develop applied and highly specialized competencies and practical skills in the acquisition, interpretation, comprehension, and application of marketing management principles. The qualification also intends to make original contributions to the field.

A research thesis in this PhD programme should develop and deepen recent and innovative marketing strategies and concepts, including social media and the Internet, that help us to improve strategies to stay in touch with customers.

The PhD is a programme of independent, self-directed academic research degree, supported by a team of supervisors that makes an original contribution to knowledge written up in a publishable dissertation. The PhD programme also supports the development of research and generic skills to equip you to operate successfully as a professional researcher in any setting. The essential requirement of a PhD is the creation of new knowledge. Being a researcher means developing new ideas and improving understanding through the creation of new knowledge.

The Doctoral Program in Marketing and Strategy is a joint project from the Universities of Minho (UM), Aveiro (UA) and Beira Interior (UBI). Drawing on the synergies of the three organising universities, this Program aims at endowing doctoral students with a state of the art vision about the advance of scientific knowledge in these areas while benefiting from the resources of three universities.

The curriculum consists of a thesis that incorporates a research proposal, an oral defence (viva voce) and two manuscripts, based on the candidate's research, submitted for publication to a recognised accredited journal. Proof of the submission of the manuscripts is a compulsory condition for the degree to be conferred.

The Marketing Specialization of the HEC Paris PhD program prepares students for an academic career at research institutions from day 1. Professors are dedicated to developing these outstanding scholars through the combination of rigorous coursework and hands-on research experience from day 1.

The goal of the Ph.D. program is to develop outstanding scholars who will become active contributors to marketing knowledge and will go on to secure academic jobs at top international universities. In keeping with this spirit, several of our students have published papers in top research journals while in the programme.

The Sasin Ph.D. program is designed for candidates with outstanding intellectual abilities and a strong commitment to research. The program is highly individualized, reflecting each student’s unique background, abilities and research interests. Sasin offers two principal doctoral programs: Finance and Marketing. Most students are expected to complete their Ph.D. in four to six years of study. Matriculating students for Ph.D. studies are admitted in May only.

The Business Administration Doctoral Program admits students who are interested in pursuing research mainly in areas related to marketing, human resources and organizational behavior, and entrepreneurship.
