The PhD program in Law and Social Change considers applications from candidates who are willing to undertake high-level research on any topic related to the several challenges that the law faces in the contemporary world – preferably with a view to the transnational dimension of such challenges.

Luiss, as part of the consortium of GEM PhD School (of which it is an effective member from 2010, together with 17 European and extra-European institutions) has been recently awarded funding for the activation of 3 out of 16 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Joint Doctoral Network (MSCA-JD) PhD positions in the framework of the European program Horizon Europe.

The PhD in Politics is a fully-funded program, providing PhD candidates with scholarships for four years of research and study. Every PhD researcher will receive supervision from two scholars with expertise in the field, at least one of whom is drawn from among the internationally renowned members of the Academic Board of the program.

The Ph.D. in Economics at Luiss Guido Carli is a four-year program providing advanced education in all the main areas of economics. It is aimed at training international economists capable of contributing to the advancement of knowledge and capable of expanding the frontiers of research in economic disciplines.

The third cycle is a specialized research track mainly targeted to those who wish to teach and do university research.

The Doctoral Program in Spiritual Theology, with a minimum duration of two years, offers the student the possibility of writing a dissertation on a specific area of Spiritual Theology under the guidance of one of the professors of the Department. This program also prepares the students for teaching at the University level.

The LUISS Ph.D. Program in Management is a disciplined – but not disciplinary – learning path for high potential doctoral candidates. It offers concentrations in strategy, organization, innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, and corporate finance.

The third cycle concludes the philosophical specialization with the achievement of a Doctoral Degree. The student must attend monographic courses (Doctoral Lecture Series) and writes the thesis under a director; the work must bring an effective contribution to the philosophical research.

The Pontifical Pastoral Institute “Redemptor Hominis” trains and specializes students in pastoral theology: both in its fundamental themes (identity and method) and in relation to some specific areas of ecclesial activity. In particular, it prepares future teachers for teaching in seminaries and theological institutes as well as pastoral workers who are experts in the various fields of ecclesial life. In view of a missionary renewal of the Church, the Institute pays particular attention to the themes of the Social Doctrine of the Church, the pastoral and health care; and the dialogue between theology, social and human sciences.

The third cycle lasts three years and allows a further study of the chosen area of ​​specialization. The program is divided into courses and seminars for a total of 18 ECTS. The discussion and publication of the thesis then allow the achievement of the academic degree of doctorate in philosophy.
