The aim of doctoral studies in Informatics is to educate scientists capable to develop and creatively apply the methods of information technology for creation and analysis of the mathematical models of real-world objects and systems aiming to find solutions to important scientific and practical problems.

The study in PhD in Systems Engineering and Informatics consists of the study part ending with the final state exam and the research part focuses on the dissertation thesis and its defence. A graduate of the Applied informatics study program acquires university education in the third degree (doctoral) in the field of applied informatics, knows the scientific methods of research and development in the field of applied informatics with a focus on methods and means to draft informatic solutions to problems, learns the principles of individual work, teamwork and project management, scientific formulation of a problem, economic, legal and environmental aspects of new solutions, ethical and social aspects of scientific work, presentation of results, will understand the applied informatics for his respective field of application, will be ready to build scientific perspective in a variety of fields of applied informatics and for a direct entry into the trade market, will find application as a member of a creative team, or it’s leader, in any field, where knowledge of applied informatics is required.

The Doctoral School of Applied Informatics and Applied Mathematics started its activities. in 2009. Its aim is to train researchers – mainly with an engineering background – who are familiar with the methods and techniques of informatics, computer science, and applied mathematics, and can solve real industrial research and development tasks using multi-disciplinary knowledge, communication skills, and teamwork experience.

The aim of the Ph.D. course is to prepare students for both fundamental and applied research in informatics with a view to other disciplines of science understood to be a creative inspiration for research and development of new structures and algorithms and their final implementation.

The Doctoral School operates at the Business School of CUB under the control of the University Doctoral Council (“EDT”). The departments of the Faculty, as well as other university faculties and supervisors competent based on the topic, are involved in the work of the Doctoral School.
