A PhD in Geography and Geospatial Technology goes well beyond foundational mapping or regional analysis.

Your coursework and independent study draw on remote sensing analysis, spatial data modeling, geographic information systems, and quantitative as well as qualitative field methods. Depending on your focus, you may examine climate and land-use change, urban systems, environmental justice, or population and migration patterns, applying geospatial methods at scales from local to global.

The dissertation is central to this degree. You'll design and execute a multi-year project, often in collaboration with research institutes, government agencies, or environmental organizations. Graduates move into faculty positions, senior research roles, and policy or planning careers, contributing to sectors including environmental science, urban development, public health geography, and international development.
