17 Environmental Sustainability PhD Degree Programs

PhD by research via Distance Learning is awarded after successfully completing a theoretical research specialization. This research is presented in the form of a doctoral thesis. The PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is the only doctoral degree that can be achieved through distance learning. The main requirement for a PhD online through distance learning is to present and discuss a thesis of at least 100 pages for review and evaluation by an academic committee at Selinus University. The aim of this research step should cover the theoretical foundations of sustainable agriculture, the design of alternative production systems and technologies and the management of parasitic insects, pathogens and weeds. The Postgraduate Studies Program at the Doctorate level of the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste, SC, CIBNOR, is established with the purpose of contributing to the national effort in the training of human resources for scientific research and technological development in their areas of specialty. In particular, the training of independent researchers and qualified personnel to carry out scientific research tasks is pursued with an approach that includes knowledge of problems that primarily affect the development of the northwest region and the country, active participation in their resolution, and maintaining close ties with the social, government and private sectors.

The program is focused on the comprehensive training of human resources at the postgraduate level, who, by becoming involved in knowledge generation, validation and/or transfer activities, as well as professional training, respond with innovative and knowledge-based proposals to the demands for a solution to the problem of animal production systems, the sustainable use and exploitation of natural resources in Chihuahua, in Mexico and even beyond its borders.

The purpose of this degree program is to produce graduates who are able to identify new discoveries and apply engineering analyzes to develop sustainable solutions to complex engineering problems. An additional goal is to produce graduates who conduct independent cutting-edge research in biosystems engineering and that can clearly communicate research findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
