PhD in Engineering Education. While there has been extraordinary engineering education happening at UConn since 1916, the field of engineering education is its academic study. A Ph.D. in engineering education from UConn will prepare students with the skills and competencies needed to conduct high-quality educational research in the context of engineering programs at both the pre-and post-secondary levels.

The Ph.D. in Engineering Program offered by the Faculty of Engineering Sciences is designed to provide a fundamental approach to basic engineering principles with an emphasis on scientific methods. The aim of coursework and research projects is to develop individuals capable of creative work in engineering science and areas of specialization in engineering research and development or teaching.

Materials science and engineering is an interdisciplinary field that studies the structure, properties, and performance of materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, semiconductors, biomaterials, nanomaterials, composites, and more. It combines principles from chemistry, physics, and various engineering disciplines to understand how materials form, how they behave under real-world conditions, and how they can be used to create new technologies and products.

The PhD program in Engineering Science covers fields of study at all institutes within the faculty. Our researchers and research groups collaborate directly with industry and other research environments. We integrate sustainable principles in the development and improvement of technologies and solutions, including, but not limited to; energy and efficiency, building and infrastructure, production and logistics, product design, geometric analysis and computations.

In this PhD programme the candidate, through his research, should deepen the technical and human aspects of project management in engineering.

The purpose of the qualification is to develop an engineer with advanced abilities in applying fundamental engineering management sciences and/or design and synthesis, and related principles independently to specific management systems problems of society at large.

The Ph.D. program in Robotics Engineering (further in the text: Ph.D. program), fully taught in English, is designed to provide advanced skills and sophisticated knowledge for individuals planning a career in academia, industry, and research settings in any subfield of robotics.

The Ph.D. course aims to train researchers capable of carrying out high-quality research work related to Information Engineering in academic and non academic research institutions as well as in industrial research development centers. The course consists of four curricula:

Graduate study in materials engineering provides opportunities for students to acquire highly advanced knowledge in materials science or engineering through a combination of rigorous coursework, an oral exam, a dissertation, and defense of that dissertation and seminar presentations.

The Ph.D. in Engineering program at Saint Louis University's School of Science and Engineering focuses on a specific research topic. The students are expected to conduct original academic research that culminates in a dissertation and peer-reviewed publications. Additional coursework related to the chosen research area is also required.

The Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.) The program prepares our students to work at the highest levels of the engineering profession. This program emphasizes solving problems that arise in using technologies beneficial to mankind. However, those problems and their solutions frequently affect society in nontechnical ways.

Graduates of the Doctor of Engineering (DEng) will be able to make original and significant contributions to the development, application, and evaluation of professional knowledge by engaging with practical problems of demonstrated importance to their employment context and the wider body of engineering and technical knowledge.
