The main objective of the study program special education is to prepare highly qualified staff for theoretical and fieldwork in the area of providing special education services in the widest possible range, according to the differentiated structure of the Czech study fields of special education (SSP – support for disabilities related to sight, hearing, physical or mental state, support for citizens with communication skill deficits, autistic spectrum disorders, behavioral disorders or support for people with social disadvantages) with special focus on the current issues of contemporary special education in the international context. The fundamental asset of the Ph.D. study in the field of special education is the preparation of specialists to succeed in independent scientific research projects, leading to their personal and career growth to enrich the scientific field of special education as a modern social science area. Philosophy of Education teaches philosophy of pedagogy and education in relation to the history of philosophy and leading concepts in contemporary philosophy. Philosophy of Education is based on traditions of critical thought, philosophical anthropology, social and political philosophy, eco-pedagogy, and critical pedagogy; it further reaches into other approaches to social science, such as cultural anthropology, sociolinguistics, and sociology, with the aim of studying general problems of contemporary society. The goal of doctoral research is the scholarly preparation of individuals who stand out in their creative, critical, and conceptual thought, with interdisciplinary reach, and are able to develop Philosophy of Education and related fields. Graduates will be prepared to evaluate and conceptualize goals and strategies of education and pedagogy in scholarly and educational institutions and in the state sector. Doctoral studies are conceived as a preparatory program for scholars and researchers whose creative endeavors contribute to the development of theory and research in the field of education sciences. The program aims preferably to enhance their relevant expertise, disseminate relevant research findings and trends in the field of education, and cultivate methodological competencies of doctoral students. The general focus of the study program offers students the chance to get acquainted more deeply with the pedagogical disciplines. The focal point of the doctoral study is a doctoral dissertation/thesis, defined as an original scholarly work whose findings enrich the respective field of study within the broader context of developing the discipline. Due to the nature and content of the study, the applicant may consult the theme, the structure of the project, and possibilities for its processing with potential supervisors of doctoral studies. The Ph.D. study program Music theory and education is set to prepare future scientific staff who will be able to work independently on their creative and scientific work in the area of music education and music theory. The study program is to systematically deepen the knowledge in the area of interest, provides results of music education/pedagogy and music and science research, including the current trends in music education which should develop specific musical competence to begin independent scientific work in the field. The Art Education didactics Ph.D. study program supports areas of fine arts and its theory connected with the social science of education and didactics in a comprehensive realm of inquiry-based and international scientific approach. The Ph.D. program should strengthen the knowledge of art education and art reflection in the specialization of Art education and Creative arts majors thus being focused on the Art class didactics. The research area of the program then the main focus is to implement the model of reflective art which is targeted towards creative and inquiry-based art production which consequently leads towards the creation of methodologies and frameworks for didactic and pedagogical transformations in the fine and creative arts. Doctoral study program Didactics of Mathematics focuses on the preparation of scientists and conceptual workers with competencies for scientific research in the didactics of mathematics and the analysis and evaluation of curricular curriculum content, including teacher training universities. The Didactics of Mathematics program mainly involves the field of mathematics, pedagogy, general didactics, and psychology. Program without specialization.

The study program is focused on the problems of didactics of physics and general problems of physics. It stems from scientific disciplines such as physics, didactics of physics, pedagogy, and psychology. The main goal is to provide students with a complex overview of the didactics of physics, teach them independent scientific practice in this field and allow for a deeper understanding of some parts of physics. This program naturally follows the master’s program Physics Education for Secondary Schools which, out of the whole Charles University, can be studied solely at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. It is therefore natural that this faculty also has a doctorate program focused on didactics of physics and general problems of physics. This study program is unique by being the only one at our university to offer doctorate-level studies in the field of didactics of physics.

The study program "Algebra, Number Theory, and Mathematical Logic" offers students an advanced education in a selected area. Education allows the program graduates to follow contemporary research. It teaches them the basics of independent scientific work and how to approach various abstract problems.

The goal of the doctoral study program Didactics of Chemistry is to prepare specialists to improve the quality of chemical education in the Czech Republic in accordance with current social needs and in accordance with the educational programs of advanced European countries based on scientific research results. The doctoral program is focused on the preparation of specialists in the field of chemical education theory in accordance with current knowledge of chemistry, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, informatics, and other disciplines. The program focuses on the education of graduates prepared to solve research problems in the sub-area of computer science related to the generation and processing of visual information (computer graphics, image analysis, machine vision) and/or computer games development.

This study program submitted for review aims to train professionals who can creatively apply their theoretical expertise in English studies within a broadly conceived context of education that spans all educational stages. The program also fosters ingenuity and flexibility, thus producing erudite experts who can reassess the ever-changing needs of foreign language teaching and incorporate these into their methodology. Perhaps most importantly, the study program submitted for review is a symbiosis between the major field of study (i.e. English philology, spanning linguistic and literary-cultural aspects) on the one hand, and didactics of English and applied didactics on the other. The study program is implemented within the scientific field of Kinanthropology. Research in Kinanthropology deals with the complex effects of intentional and spontaneous physical activity on the development of human personality in the bio-psycho-social context and conditions of the environment of physical education and sport, physiotherapy, health physical education, including their effective management. Kinanthropology, therefore, represents an interdisciplinary field requiring variability of the approach to solving research problems, in which a systemic approach with an accent on methodology has long been emphasized.

Doctoral study is designed as a preparation of researchers in the field of educational and school psychology, who will participate in the development of psychological theory and research through independent creative activities. The doctoral study will deepen the knowledge in the field with the application of Czech and foreign knowledge and research results will further extend the methodological and research skills and competencies of doctoral students, as well as presentation skills, with an emphasis on educational and school psychology, other psychological disciplines and social sciences. The focus of the doctoral study is the dissertation, which has the character of the original scientific work. Through the dissertation thesis of the empirical-theoretical or theoretical research, the doctoral student gains new knowledge on the studied topic and thus enriches its scientific description and conceptualization. The dissertation is involved in the development of the field in the national and international context. The aim of the study is to prepare researchers who, in the case of a further academic career at the university, get involved in pedagogic, scientific and research activities in educational and school psychology, possibly also in related psychological disciplines and other social sciences; in case of practical psychological activity the workers will theorize the given field and encompass it into a broader professional context.
