EUCLID’s online Ph.D. in terrorism studies and deradicalization is unique in that it is offered by an intergovernmental treaty-based organization with a university mandate. EUCLID has specialized expertise in global affairs, including interfaith studies.

On this programme we interrupt theory with practice, and practice with theory – we aim to engage you, intellectually and critically, and with enthusiasm, in a cultural studies project that questions everything.

The Doctoral Program in Culture Studies is part of a network hosted by the Lisbon Consortium that brings together the academy and the art world through a partnership between the MA and PhD Programs in Culture Studies at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and prominent cultural institutions in Lisbon (Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Museu Nacional do Teatro e da Dança, Culturgest, Fundação Oriente, Centro Nacional de Cultura, Oceanário de Lisboa, Parques de Sintra-Monte da Lua, Fundação EDP, Fundação Millennium BCP, Fundação Amélia de Mello and Câmara Municipal de Lisboa).

The Doctoral School of the DiDA, established according to Article 29 of Rectoral Decree 670/2013, has as its primary strategic objective, of national and supranational interest and of cultural and economic significance, the care and sustainable enhancement of territorial heritage, from landscapes to cities, buildings, and everyday objects.

The following are the general objectives of the Program:

Graduates are highly qualified specialists in literary and cultural studies focused on English-speaking countries, especially the literature and cultures on the British Isles and in North America. They have a good command of theoretical and methodological approaches, are able to conduct independent research and to teach literary and cultural histories of the United Kingdom, USA, Ireland and other English-speaking countries, and related literary and cultural courses, at tertiary level. They can participate in team research projects and work in international research teams. Czech graduates have a good command of the terminology and style of the discipline in their mother tongue and possess basic knowledge of the reception of Anglophone literature in Czech culture.

The PhD in French Language, Civilization and Culture (100% online and ONLY in French langauge) aims to enable students to acquire advanced training by deepening their knowledge of the French language and literature and their development over the centuries. Through the use of appropriate methodological tools and in-depth personal reflection, supported by a substantial literature review, the results of their study will be able to contribute to the advancement of knowledge on the subject.

Graduates of the doctoral program in Asian History and Culture are highly qualified specialists in the area of their specialization. Their excellent command of a selected Asian language enables them to work critically with primary sources, and they have a solid grounding in secondary literature and contemporary research. Their excellent level of erudition enables them to pursue careers in the academia (universities, research centers, etc.); they can, moreover, seek employment in cultural institutions, diplomacy, mass media, specialized think-tanks, etc.

Objectives: - To provide doctoral students with a specific and up-to-date training in the area of ​​Cultural Studies based on contemporary theorizing; - promote a specialized training in Cultural Studies promoting inter, trans and multidisciplinary dialogue; - to contribute to the development of methodological skills of advanced level in the area of ​​Cultural Studies; - encourage the implementation of projects that promote a broader dissemination of research in culture.

Established in 2000, the Department is the first and still the only place in the Chinese-speaking world with a fully interdisciplinary and cosmopolitan faculty of staff committed exclusively to the teaching and research in contemporary Cultural Studies.
