Our MPhil/PhD programme in computer science offers you the opportunity to participate fully in the highly interdisciplinary research environment of our department and of the College as a whole.

The aim of the PhD programme is to provide opportunities for the growth of researchers and teachers in the fields of computer science and mathematics by promoting the training of professionals in basic and applied research, economics or public administration whose knowledge, skills and competences meet the requirements of the highest level specialists in the field of mathematics and computer science in Latvia and internationally.

The PhD program in "Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics", based in Firenze, is managed by a Consortium among the University of Firenze, the University of Perugia and the Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica "F. Severi"-Rome (INdAM). This PhD program inherited the tradition of the pre-existing three separate PhD's in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, and can rely upon the very many, and well established, scientific connections of the involved institutions with Universities and Research Centers in many Countries of the World. The relevant number of offered scholarships allows the achievement of a critical mass of PhD students and activities, which are fundamental for a doctorate with an interdisciplinary character.

The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences is pleased in offering PhD in Computer science by research to students on the Dubai campus. Initially, those with an interest in undertaking a project in the broad area of computing are encouraged to apply. This may include different research topics as outlined in programme content.

The doctoral programme in Computer Science aims to provide students with advanced scientific, methodological and technological knowledge in computer science and related sectors and their corresponding fields of application. The field of computer science evolves very quickly and often traditional universities only deal with some aspects of this particular segment of science.

The branch of knowledge of this course in PhD in Informatics Engineering is precisely Informatics Engineering. Through its PhD program in computer science, UAlg intends to affirm its presence in this scientific field. There is a bachelor's and a master's degree in Informatics Engineering in the Institution, already with some parchments.

A dissertation embodying the results of this research represents the major portion of the requirements for this degree. Four calendar years beyond the bachelor’s degree or three past the master’s degree are usually needed to complete the Ph.D. program.
