The doctorate in Corporate Communication is designed to develop highly specialized and in-depth theoretical, professional, and research skills within the disciplines of Corporate Communication and Communication.

Communication is one of the determining manifestations of life of contemporary society. We have become part of communities that are formed in communication processes taking place in reality as well as in digital networks. The study programME Semiotics and Philosophy of Communication focuses on the study of communication strategies, their preconditions and their effects. The peculiarity of this programme will appear in connection with the emphasis placed on the study of visual components of communication. This way we take into account the role that nowadays belongs to images in contemporary communication. It is also important to point out that the analysis of the semiosis, mediation and communication processes is extended to expose the manipulative character of some media discourse procedures which contributes to the specific features of this program.

The purpose of this program is to explore a wide range of forms of human communication from a variety of perspectives that connect the local and the global and are rooted in African contexts and experiences. As an inherently interdisciplinary and flexible program, the MA in Communication Studies intersects a multiplicity of fields and areas in the humanities and social sciences and offers an opportunity to explore their complementarity and interconnectedness.

Questions around communication, its relationships with the social, political, cultural, and economic spheres, have acquired crucial importance in recent decades and driving a highly significant expansion in the interest and relevance of research undertaken in the field of the Communication Sciences. In parallel, changes in interpersonal, intergroup, and public communications practices, which have come to impact on contemporary societies, have driven the still greater relevance of educating and training highly qualified specialists able to develop fundamental and applied research projects correspondingly able to reply to the different communications challenges prevailing and expanding our knowledge about communication across its most diverse and different facets.

The doctoral program in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms, started in the academic year 2008/2009, aims to enable students to enhance knowledge at a doctoral level in the area of Communication and information Sciences on scenarios of technological mediation, and also provide skill development and training as independent researchers. The doctoral program is a strategic partnership on research between the UNiversities of Aveiro and Porto following the creation, in 2007, of the joint research unit DIGIMEDIA

Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international private Doctor of Philosophy in Management (Ph.D.) in Communication Studies degree awarded by the school's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned.

A research thesis in this PhD programme should develop and deepen recent and innovative marketing strategies and concepts, including social media and the Internet, that help us to improve strategies to stay in touch with customers.

Our doctoral program in mass communication, jointly administered with the Department of Life Sciences Communication, is internationally recognized for our faculty and areas of research. The objective of the Doctoral School of Social Communication operating since 2012 is the examination of issues of theoretical and applied communication, the clarification of the notion of communication, its role in society and its theoretical context, as well as the exploration of the sociological, socio/psychological, cultural, anthropological and ethological aspects of communication.

It is the only Doctorate in Latin America whose theoretical foundation is Engineering in Social Communication and Strategic Communication (NTE). Our teachers are of high level and what is sought is to generate doctors who apply their methods and models to the areas of social life on which they investigate. It is a program that is taught remotely, with sessions every 15 days during the semester, which are recorded and can be sent to the doctoral student's email if it was not possible to connect synchronously. The thought in Communication is considered as the central element of confluence for the efficiency in the application of the diagnosis and the development of communicational solutions and the axis for the theoretical deepening of the phenomenon.
