BioMedChem Doctoral School is an interdisciplinary school, which has a unique curriculum offer. Doctoral students of the school gain knowledge from one of the three above-mentioned disciplines, which is simultaneously closely related to the two remaining ones. Joint seminar classes constitute a platform to expand knowledge in these three fields, so far frequently considered as separate. It is a valuable supplementation of the gained knowledge that leads to a better and fuller understanding of processes and phenomena taking place at the interface between animate nature and its surroundings.

Our undergraduate program in Biopharmaceutical Sciences prepares you for graduate work in pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, biomedical engineering, business, finance and law. Through innovative coursework and independent research opportunities, the program instills you with skills in pharmaceutical sciences, business, marketing, product development and lifecycle, and medical product development and use. You’ll leave the program positioned for employment at leading research universities and in industry, government or any research-centric arena.

The purpose of the PhD in Health Sciences: Biomedical Sciences is to produce graduates that are competent in conducting scientific research under minimal guidance in a chosen field, and to contribute to knowledge production in that field. The research problem, its justification, process and outcome are to be reported in a dissertation that complies with the generally accepted norms for research at these levels.

Biomedical informatics is a rapidly developing field whose content matter is, above all, the use of computers and information technologies (IT), system approach, statistics and epidemiology, and mathematical methodologies in medicine. Biomedical informatics is experiencing permanent development, and at present, it is focused on these major problem areas: the area of support to clinical decision-making, biomedical statistics, robotics, computer modeling, image processing; and the area of medical information systems. In clinical medicine, it means the following areas: clinical computing, analyses of images, issues of biosignal, computer modeling, artificial intelligence (including expert systems), support of decision-making, issues of statistics and biometrics, classification in medicine, computers in operating the devices, robotic and artificial organs. In the areas of information systems, the issues of their implementation in health care settings are tackled as well as specific questions of data protection and ethical problems and creation of hospital information systems. In the areas of theoretical medicine, it is mainly about modeling physiologic functions and issues of bioinformatics. The program is carried out without any specialization.

The PhD Program in Biomedical Sciences has a strong interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary focus, centered around the central theme of biomedicine. It is divided into eight curricula and has a faculty of 61 internal members plus six external members from the University of Florence, each with a diverse range of expertise.

The Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences (PDCB), established in 1986, offers advanced training in Biomedicine with a focus on Biological, Medical, and Health Sciences. It provides flexible, individualized training through expert guidance, ensuring both specific and transversal skills to students ranging from recent graduates to professionals.

The Teaching Division of Biomedical Sciences offers a wide range of specialization tracks, combining research and studies in medical and life sciences with emphasis on understanding the functioning of the human body in situations of health and disease. The program prepares its graduates for teaching and research positions in academic institutions, and research and works in knowledge-intensive industries, hospitals, and healthcare systems.

The subject of the study program within the concept of the complex biomedical fields is the issue of physical processes in a living organism, the influence of physical factors on living organisms, and the use of modern physical methods in biomedical fields. Biophysics, as an interdisciplinary field, offers doctoral (Ph.D.) study to university graduates of various specializations (medicine, natural sciences, mathematics, physics, etc.). The study program is carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The College of Medicine at the China Medical University (CMU) places a strong emphasis on postgraduate research training at the master's and doctoral levels. At its core, the Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences is host to faculty members coming from diverse research backgrounds, including: biochemistry and cell biology, neuroscience, microbiology and immunology, oncology, and clinical research.

The PhD in Translational Medicine is a three-year Programme. The Mission of Pro- gram is to educate and train post-gradua- te students with different academic backgrounds and highly motivated to pursue a career in experimental biomedicine and/or clinical research.

The Ph.D. Degree in Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences of the Department of Biological Sciences aims at providing students with high quality education of international standing, so that that they can develop a deep understanding of their science and versatile thinking, something critical for their professional career in the modern research and innovation environment.

The doctoral study program is primarily designated for graduates of master study program Bioanalytical Healthcare – as the third stage of education following after the bachelor and master study, and also for graduates from study programs of natural sciences, pharmacy, medicine and related. It is a unique doctoral study, not established at other faculty or university (they have mostly bachelor and master levels only)

Joint LSU and UT Ph.D. study in Biology consolidated research in the area of Biology, and they ensure more integrated and substantial investigations of scientific problems in biology.

Research in the field of biomedicine and pharmacy provides a solid foundation for the advancement of medicine. The introduction into the market of new drugs quickly and continuously, new active substances or new pharmaceutical forms are allowing to extend the life of patents (and with this the return on investment that, for pharmaceutical laboratories, represents the launch of new drugs to the market).
