Quantitative Biology and Complex Systems is an interdisciplinary field that integrates biology, mathematics, physics, computer science, and engineering to study living systems in a measurable, predictable, and modelable manner.

The Doctoral School of Biology and Spotbiology provides PhD in Biology in wide range fields of biology and sportbiology including genetics, microbiology, plant biology, ecology, regulatory biology, fitness, stress, sport and immune system. Excellently equipped laboratories are available in the biology departments and at the Szentágothai Research Center of UP, as well as at the Balaton Limnological Institute. PhD in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology The Doctoral Study Program (DSP) Bioinformatics and Computational Biology is a combined study program aimed at three areas of education (Informatics; Biology, Ecology and the Environment; General Medicine and Dentistry). It is a multidisciplinary "doctoral degree" program between two universities. All subjects offered to students of this DSP are a combination of subjects focused on informatics - guaranteed by VŠB-TUO (50%), and subjects focused on biology and medical sciences - guaranteed by Palacky University in Olomouc (30% + 20%).

The Vascular biology PhD program provides training in the basic mechanism of vascular function and coagulation, as well as the physiological and pathological aspects associated with it.
