10 Performing Arts Degree Programs in Brazil

Post-Graduation in Performing Arts at ECA-USP had its origin in 1981, constituting in fact the oldest and pioneer program in the field in the country. Initially, a member of the Postgraduate Program in Arts, in 2006, he started to act independently, as a Postgraduate Program in Performing Arts - PPGAC, boosting his development considerably, by acquiring autonomy to implement research projects. , teaching and intellectual production related to our own characteristics.

The Postgraduate Program in Performing Arts at the Institute of Philosophy, Arts and Culture of the Federal University of Ouro Preto was created on April 5, 2013 by the UFOP Teaching, Research and Extension Council in resolution 5,193, having its course of Academic Master's Stricto Sensu approved by CAPES - Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel on September 17 of the same year, having its academic activities started on March 17, 2014. The referred Program is both the result of a collective work process carried out by its teaching staff, in the years 2011 and 2012, as well as the result of its historical maturity, expressing, therefore, a common objective to all the professors that are part of the present project.

UFSC Film Studies Program was created in 2005 – the first in the field of Arts to be offered at UFSC. It aims to prepare professionals qualified to carry out various activities in the audiovisual field and related areas, as well as to contribute to the students’ insertion in academic research. The program offers a broad training that allows students to choose their own academic paths among a wide and diverse set of elective courses. It also provides contact with a number of technical specialties, introducing the student to the handling of equipment and software and to group practices. Covering a diverse set of knowledge involved in the audiovisual production chain, the program stimulates the creative process and the contact with contemporary forms of artistic expression, besides offering a solid background in film theories and critical reflection.

The Music Degree course offered by UEA aims to promote the higher education of teachers who will work in the teaching of music in the context of Basic Education. The political and didactic-pedagogical guidelines of the course are based on technical and scientific training, consistent with the demands that the world of contemporary work imposes, and the ethical-humanistic training that the training of a citizen requires. In this way, the Music Degree Course seeks to provide theoretical and practical support to develop a future reflective music educator, with autonomy and knowledge to mobilize knowledge and skills consistent with their context of performance.

The course program aims to train real editors, not just editing software operators. Ideal for professionals who already work in the audiovisual sector and need to deepen their knowledge and skills, or for students interested in a high-quality training and who are completing a degree in a related area.

In the BA (Hons) Visual Effects for Film and TV degree, the focus is on the use of high technology computer animation and 3D compositing effects in live action scenes. Based on the creation of 3D content and design, the special effects professionals in the market develop projects, combining hyper-realism in computer graphics and digital effects with films and digital cinema, ranging from fire simulation, particles, characters and digital stunts, to chroma key and matte paint.

ESPM's degree in Cinema and Audiovisual was entirely developed based on the dynamics of the Brazilian Cinematographic universe. The School's differentiated methodology contemplates the main technical and aesthetic issues of the different audiovisual languages, without leaving aside the business base.

The Professional Master in Creative Industries synthesizes the interaction of different branches of knowledge aimed at the production and dissemination of goods whose greatest value is created. Its main objective is to contribute to the resolution of problems in environments of media convergence.

The objective of the course is to develop skills to understand complex scenarios, imagine new futures, create memorable experiences and innovate with greater assertiveness, creating and managing communities of transformation. Gain awareness to identify components of creative processes in order to better understand about oneself, how it was configured, its difficulties and development possibilities, as well as peers and audience.

Currently, the Course offers 50 places per year, in the Bachelor's and Licentiate's modalities: singing, recorder, transverse flute, percussion, piano, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, violin, viola (bow) and cello.
