18 Ophthalmology Degree Programs

The Ophthalmology Technician Program has been designed to prepare a student to assist ophthalmologists in detecting, diagnosing, and treating ailments and diseases of the eye. The student will become well acquainted with the development and structures of the human eye, the way it functions, internally and externally, and will get familiar with the different ophthalmic diseases regarding etiology, signs and symptoms, and treatment.

The MSc Primary Care Ophthalmology is a multidisciplinary programme that aims to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence of clinicians working with patients in a variety of ophthalmic settings using up-to-date evidence in a modern teaching environment. 

The course in Orthoptics and Ophthalmic Care aims to train professional figures in the health profession of Orthoptist and Ophthalmology Assistant. Graduates are health care professionals who carry out their activities in the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of ocular motility disorders, amblyopia, and some forms of age-related low vision, following diagnosis of the condition by the ophthalmic specialist.

The Ophthalmology MSc is a unique, comprehensive study of Ophthalmology, combining contemporary clinical knowledge with up-to-date research, delivered jointly by UCL and Moorfields Eye Hospital. All major sub-specialties in this rapidly advancing area are covered, using a range of teaching and assessment methods, designed to equip students with a variety of skills to enhance their future careers.

The Eyecare Specialist program at North-West College is a professional health care training course designed to provide the fundamental knowledge and education needed to work as a technical assistant under a doctor's supervision.

Vision science is multidisciplinary and can include the study of biochemistry, biophysics, engineering, epidemiology, molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, optics, ophthalmology, optometry, pathology, physiology, psychology, statistics, and any other discipline that relates to the eye and its problems. The Master of Science in Vision Science builds a strong basis for understanding the background of modern vision science. We have two types of M.S. degree programs—thesis-based and non-thesis-based.

The MS/OD China Program is a unique joint degree program between Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) and the New England College of Optometry (NECO). Students who complete the program earn two degrees: the master of science and doctor of optometry degrees.

The optometry program goals are to graduate optometrists who are knowledgeable, clinically competent, professional, and ethical.

This course is intended for orthoptists, or students who have completed a relevant degree, who wish to pursue a career in research or gain a competitive advantage in their career by completing an additional postgraduate qualification. Students gain research skills and expertise in their area of research interest, and demonstrate their outstanding academic ability and commitment to orthoptics through the completion of the degree.

The Masters of Optometry Program at JMC was established 16 years ago. The Optometry Department was established 28 years ago and has been leading the field of optometric education in both undergraduate and graduate studies. Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College, formerly Hadassah College has vast experience running online, in-person, and hybrid international courses with world-renowned lecturers worldwide.

The four year Doctor of Optometry Program is our core academic program. It consists of three years of study in the classroom, clinic, laboratory, and seminar settings, followed by an all-clinical fourth year.

The Master of Orthoptics provides the requisite in-depth knowledge, skills and experience to work as an orthoptist in the multidisciplinary eye healthcare sector. Innovative and practice-based in approach, it enables the development of specialist knowledge and skills while preparing students for changing practices in response to new evidence and rapidly emerging medical technologies. The UTS Master of Orthoptics is the only postgraduate course for orthoptics in Australia.
