The International Master’s Program of Biomedical Sciences (IMPBS) offers comprehensive, diverse, and extensive courses to prepare students for highly competitive careers in education, industry, and research. Institute of Earth Sciences (IES) is a diversified institute devoted to the frontier researches of earth and environmental sciences. National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) established the Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Science and Technology (IEO) M.S. Program in 2001 under the College of Science, followed by the Ph.D. Program in 2005. The Undergraduate Program of Electro-Optical Engineering (UPEOE) was established in 2018 which provides the undergraduate Program under the College of technology and engineering.

Applied Computing program (AC) is the first IT program in Taiwan conducted entirely in English throughout four years. It was founded in 2003. AC is a globalized program in regard to course content, sources of teachers, internship institutions and future employment. The goals of the program are clearly defined. The Department was established in July 1987. In the first stage (from 1987 to 1998), it is the Department of Mathematics and Natural Science Education and there are two majors, Mathematics Education in group A and Natural Science Education in group B in the department. In July 1998, the department was separated into two parts: Group A was independent as the Department of Mathematics Education, and Group B was the Department of Natural Science Education. It was lasted 12 years (from 1998 to 2010) and it's the second stage of the department. Now we are going to the third stage: the Department of Applied Mathematics since August 2010. We remain the original goal: training teachers, and expand the goal to applied mathematics(using algebra or discrete mathematics to do scientific computation). We hope our new expanded department can dedicate more efforts and give more influence on mathematics and education. The educational goals of the Department of Applied Mathematics are: A . Developing student's mathematical thinking, education, and Problem Solving ability. B. Developing students to use algebra, Discrete Mathematics, or Analytic mathematics as a tool to do scientific computation. C. Developing students to be good mathematics teachers.

The institute has actively engaged in teaching and research in applied geological sciences. Founded in 1991, this Institute now has fifteen full-time and five adjunct faculty members, offering both M.S. and Ph.D.

The Institute of Atmospheric Physics is responsible for the graduate programs in atmospheric sciences. The Institute has both the master and the Ph.D. programs. Students in each program are enrolled separately through entrance exam of master or Ph.D. programs.

IAMS aims to nurture expertise in research and development in material science and technology. The research topics include the practical and theoretical aspects of materials, their utilization, and their physical and chemical properties in relation to the structures.

Two times (3 hours) a week, this experimental course is given two semesters in each year. The course is conducted initially from the operations of sterilization and smearing of microorganisms. The students are instructed to facilitate the tests for identification of bacteria to genus levels, and the basic techniques of microbiological tests. In first semester, students will practice to cultivate, observe, and carry out some biochemical tests. In second semester, they will examine bacteria associated with food sanitation, and microorganisms in seawater.

The proposes of this course were to introduce the structure, nomenclature, classification, biochemical properties and enzyme activity assay, the purification technique and methods, and the application. Therefore, this course included classification and nomenclature, binding energy and catalysis, biological electron transfer, steady state kinetics, enzyme metabolism, metal ions in enzymes, use of protein engineering to study enzyme mechanism, methods and technique of enzyme purification, heat stable enzymes, hydrolytic enzymes in animals, Immobilization of enzymes, and enzymes in food processing.

This course is devided into two parts for the undergraduate students to practice. In part one, four different fields are covered: 1. Microbiological analysis for Food quality control. Items such as microbiological examination of dairy products and frozen foods, proteolytic and lipolytic counts of meat products, and spore enumeration of low moisture foods are chosen for practices. 2. Microbiological analysis for food safety concern. Important foodborne bacterial pathogens, such as Salmonella spp, Staphylococcus aureus and Vibrio cholerae, are chosen for practices.
