Doctoral training at the School of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences aims to educate specialists capable of independent and creative work in key areas of chemistry and environmental science, in line with the needs of a market economy. The programme provides a strong foundation for obtaining a doctoral degree.

The Doctoral School of PhD in Earth Sciences offers a four-year training and research program in various fields of geography, geology, and meteorology. Students can choose from a wide selection of research topics from the three subprograms of Physical geography, geology, and meteorology; Human geography; Geopolitics, Geo-economics, and political geography. Outstanding students can obtain a Ph.D. degree after completing their studies and research activities. The program began in 1994 and since then more than 100 researchers have received their Ph.D. degrees and joined the alumni network of the Doctoral School.

The structure of the PhD in Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Medical Faculty is similar to those of most European and American universities. The doctoral (PhD) degree, as the highest qualification attainable at university, is confer- red by the University of Pécs on those who have given evidence of having acquired sufficient practical skills and theoretical knowledge to conduct scientific research independently.

International Studies Center University of Pécs Medical School offers a complex and integrated preparatory program in English for Biology that meets the language development needs of international students and facilitate their integration into the context of higher education in Hungary. International programs at Hungarian universities minimally require B2 (upper-intermediate) language level and you have to be knowledgeable in your chosen field of studies for admission.

Geography BSc trains geographers who have advanced theoretical and applied geographic knowledge; they are able to analyze the spatial and temporal correlations of the natural, socio-economic and urban environment, to synthesize results, and to gain knowledge in their academic field independently.

MSc in Biology line offers full 2-year education in biology. The study program for full-time training offers a complete education in biology, with special directions particularly in molecular biology (neurobiology, genetics, microbiology), and animal and plant ecology. Special directions from the second semester offer more laboratory practice in molecular biology or more courses in ecology. The basic subjects are presented in lectures, seminars, and laboratory or fieldwork. The program provides a wider view of the related scientific fields (biophysics, biological chemistry). The students will familiarize their knowledge with the most modern instrumentation in our new research center. It covers all aspects of education, research, and innovation in the fields of biomedical, natural, and environmental sciences. It also provides an opportunity to join the research work in 22 different research groups operating in the building.

The program focuses on logic and its applications in the philosophy of science, particularly in the foundations of mathematics, physics, linguistics, and the social sciences. Beyond a few core courses and a joint four-semester seminar series providing a common background to all students, we offer the following four thematic groups of courses: Logic and the Philosophy of Mathematics, Foundations of Physics, Logic in Linguistics, and Models in the Social Sciences – the student has to choose 7 courses offered in these modules.

The program in BSc in Geography provides a general bachelor level education in geography. It includes introductory modules to Nature and social sciences, to Geology and to Geography. Our Geographer MSc, training covers both areas and provides specialized knowledge to help you learn as thoroughly as possible about the complex relationship of human society and the environment. The Institute of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Eszterházy Károly Catholic University in Eger provides you with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills.

To train engineers who, with their knowledge in basic sciences dealing with the structure, properties, and behaviour of technical materials (metals and their alloys, ceramics, glass, binders, polymers and plastics, and their composites or new functional materials), can design and operate the production, shaping, and processing technologies of these materials to an advanced technological standard.

The program provides advanced training in geology, applicable to geological problem-solving. Our graduates have a solid foundation of knowledge in the different core disciplines of geology sciences (mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, and paleontology), complemented with advanced skills through specialized studies in selected areas. The field component includes a three-week geological mapping field school.

The Doctoral School of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science trains specialists capable of independent and creative work in key areas of chemical engineering and materials science, in line with market economy requirements.
