The subject of the study program within the concept of the complex biomedical fields is the issue of physical processes in a living organism, the influence of physical factors on living organisms, and the use of modern physical methods in biomedical fields. Biophysics, as an interdisciplinary field, offers doctoral (Ph.D.) study to university graduates of various specializations (medicine, natural sciences, mathematics, physics, etc.). The study program is carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The study program focuses on the physical nature of a wide range of atmospheric phenomena and processes, which, however, also have interdisciplinary applications in atmospheric chemistry, oceanology, physical geography, environmental sciences, etc. It is a unique program at Charles University that provides a comprehensive view of the dynamic system of the Earth's atmosphere in a broad interdisciplinary context. Even within the Czech Republic, it is the only program offering education in atmospheric physics, meteorology, and climatology. From a methodological point of view, a wide range of theoretical, experimental, and computational physics applications are used interactively and complementarily. Pharmacology and Toxicology are research topics that investigate the mechanisms of interaction of substances and medicaments with biological systems and track their positive and negative consequences for the organism. The final goal is to use this knowledge in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human and animal diseases. The research subject encompasses the study of both processes from the molecular level to affect the entire body and also research into clinical practice in patients. The determination of the latest research methods allows for interdisciplinary research at the receptor level, messenger systems, and transmission of genetic information. Created new disciplines such as pharmaco-biochemistry, pharmaco-genetics, pharmaco-economy, and others. The big advantage of pharmacology and toxicology studies is a close connection of the theoretical field with all the clinical fields that perform the treatment, prevention, and diagnostic. The study program in pharmacology and toxicology is therefore suitable not only for those interested in experimental research but also for those who plan their clinical work in the future. The study program is carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Experimental Medicine, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, and the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The Master in Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Engineering programme reflects the strong demand for hydrogen technology specialists on the European labour market. This programme is a Master programme culminating with the Czech title Ing. (equivalent to an MSc.).

The bachelor's study program Animal Welfare and Protection is an academically focused study program, corresponding to the current state and level of science and the needs of practice in Europe. The study contains theoretical knowledge and enables the acquisition of the necessary practical skills needed for the performance of the profession, including employment in creative activities, and also prepares students for study in a master's degree program.

The study contains theoretical knowledge and enables the acquisition of the necessary practical skills needed for the performance of the profession, including employment in educational and creative activities, and prepares students for a doctoral study program.

The ‘Atmospheric Physics, Meteorology and Climatology’ program leads students to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of atmospheric properties and the related processes. Within the framework of Charles University, this program is unique in its comprehensive view of the Earth's atmosphere as a dynamic system in a broad interdisciplinary context. Even within the Czech Republic, this is the only program providing full-scale education in the field of atmospheric physics, meteorology, and climatology. The program follows from the bachelor's study of physics, in which students acquire the necessary knowledge of basic physical principles (mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics, and others) as well as proficiency in related mathematical methods. The elements of the study program are primarily focused on acquiring theoretical knowledge in the field of atmospheric physics (hydrodynamics and atmospheric thermodynamics), thus extending previously acquired expertise in this field. Furthermore, skills necessary for practical as well as scientific activities in the field of atmospheric physics are acquired during the study, especially in the field of numerical mathematics, mathematical statistics, data processing, and visualization. Part of the course aims to prepare graduates for basic applications of atmospheric physics, such as weather forecasting, air pollution analysis, and climate research (including modeling and research of higher atmospheric layers). Other subjects of the program serve to deepen the student's focus in particular specialized topics or to expand knowledge in areas close to other physical disciplines (e.g., electrical, optical, and acoustic phenomena in the atmosphere or the oceans). As a part of the study, a master-level diploma thesis is prepared and submitted, in which the application of competencies acquired during the study is demonstrated, as well as the ability to cooperate in solving the assigned scientific problem.

The graduate masters the basic methodology of molecular biology and genetics, gene engineering, population genetics, and microscopy, which is able to practice, apply and interpret in research, clinical practice, or education. The graduate has a general overview of the basic statistical methods used in the evaluation of the results. The graduate demonstrated the ability of independent, creative, and team scientific work, can process and interpret the results, and is able to present these results at the scientific forum in Czech and English. The graduate is fully acquainted with the rules of ethics of scientific work, rules, and ethics associated with the interpretation of results, handling of patients' data, and work with genetically modified organisms (GMO), principles of animal protection against cruelty, and working in harmony with them.

The aim of the study is the preparation for highly qualified research work with deep theoretical and practical knowledge in xenobiochemistry and pathobiochemistry and good knowledge in other biochemical sciences and related sciences in the field of pharmacy, biology, and medicine. The core of the program is experimental laboratory work, the results of which are published and are included in the dissertation theses.

The aim of the Study Program is to provide a comprehensive view of substances of natural origin as sources of pharmaceuticals (from used and potential curative sources) in human therapy and nutraceuticals - substances derived from food sources or new sources of raw materials used in nutrition. The dominant area is the information on obtaining active substances (isolation, biotechnology, semi-synthetic pathway), methods of isolation from biological material, including solution of structure, mechanisms of biological activity in vitro, screening methodology for individual types of biological effects, and development of analytical methods for monitoring substances in the natural matrix from the therapeutic, tissue-protection and, to a certain extent, even toxicological point of view. The aim of these studies is to find out the possibilities of their use as phytopharmaceuticals, food supplements, and novel foods for the normalization of human physiological processes for the strengthening of health and prevention of chronic diseases together with the use of nutrigenomic phenomena that can be used in the administration of products in terms of interaction with food and pharmaceuticals (from the point of view of clinical pharmacy) and to influence the course of diseases.
