Explore your creativity and develop an in-depth knowledge of your art and the industry with our BMus (Hons) Songwriting course. You’ll learn all about this music industry cornerstone. You’ll focus on areas such as lyricism and aesthetics, creating music with technology, and music publishing.

Master of Music Church Music (Arp-Schnitger-Master for historical Church Music) Our church music programmes prepare students for the wide-ranging responsibilities of church musicians serving in both Protestant and Catholic parishes. Choral direction and organ music from the central areas of focus in these programmes. The University of the Arts has a long-standing tradition in the training of church musicians, and – with over 200 historical organs – northern Germany is home to the richest concentration of historical organs worldwide, including numerous creations from the workshop of Arp Schnittger – the Stradivarius of the organ world!

The degree program Educational Science in Music (Master of Arts) was introduced in fall 2013. It aims to equip students with the expertise they need to work as professional music educators in various social contexts outside general education schools. It also aims to foster a new generation of music education researchers, and as such it teaches students how to carry out specialized and interdisciplinary research. The curriculum focuses on teaching techniques in music education and also includes musicology as a reference subject as well as psychology (of musical learning and musical development), sociology, and ethnology (which deal with the social significance of music and multiculturalism). The degree program is accredited by ACQUIN from 2017 to 2023.

Evidence of a first university degree in the field of music Master of Music (M.Mus.) 4 semesters full-time (part-time study is possible, depending on the major)
