Today‘s Europe needs a skilled workforce for the raw materials industry, which forms the basis for the development of innovative technologies and industries of the future. The large imbalance between raw material acquisition and consumption that exists in Europe requires a greater commitment to securing supply chains. Such a strategy demands the acquisition of a skilled, entrepreneurial workforce with an awareness of sustainable activities between technology, economics, society, and the environment. The RaVeN EIT-Labelled master’s program in Mining Engineering responds to this challenge by offering an innovative education program that offers a comprehensive approach to resources with an emphasis on a holistic value chain and on closing the gap between the supply of, and demand for, raw materials. The objective will be pursued along an active learning path involving students and looking for unconventional solutions that can get us closer to a more self-contained (natural resource re-circulating) and, therefore, more sustainable economy. The three cooperating university partners, representing a broad geographical and cultural spectrum, and collaborating with the two sides of the Knowledge Triangle, contribute a combination of expertise and highly entrepreneurial mindsets to the program.

The aim of education on second-cycle studies in the field of study Master in Quality and Production Management (MSc) is to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential in the process of industrial transformation 4.0, with a special focus on quality of product development, modern tools for production organization, and industry 4.0 manager competencies.

In the field of Master in Logistics (MSc), students will gain knowledge of basic components of logistics processes and systems and process control shaping the physical flow of goods along with related information. In practice, this will allow future graduates to think in categories of system, customer service, effectiveness, total costs, and oriented value and benefit. The aim of education, which is to major in logistics, is to indicate the integrity of technical problems in management and economics. Graduates possess the general knowledge and skills necessary for operational logistics management within the functional departments of operators.

Built on existing strong minerals exploration MSc programs, TIMREX is a joint master’s degree in mineral exploration with add-on innovation and entrepreneurship skills. The program has a strong emphasis on field activities and the application of innovative exploration techniques and solutions is the specialty of TIMREX among the EIT-Labelled master programs. Intensive fieldwork is expected from the students during the summer period between the first and second years of study. Students will develop their entrepreneurship, innovative and socio-civic skills, with strong support from industrial and research partners.

Master in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Specialisation Computational Intelligence and Data Science (MSc) speciality is addressed to candidates interested in knowledge of modern methods of artificial intelligence and, in particular, computational intelligence and its applications, e.g. the analysis of big data and data mining. The proposed subject is closely related to scientific research conducted by the Faculty of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

The Textile Engineering program is a continuation of the first-cycle program. It trains specialists in the field with high potential for innovation. The curriculum makes it possible to learn the skills related to the design and engineering of textiles for medical, sports, and transport applications based on the latest material technologies. Students also learn to develop specialized textile applications for many different areas of human activity.

Green Technologies in Chemical Engineering is an MSc programme for those who want to gain fundamental and practical knowledge of modern chemical processes’ development, design, and operation with a particular focus on sustainability. During these studies, students will acquire proficiency in implementing chemical, physical, and biochemical processing of raw materials into useful forms of advanced market products while minimising the environmental burden.

A graduate of management has the skills necessary to manage a small to medium-sized manufacturing/service company as well as units of government administration and local government. At the same time, the students obtain knowledge in the areas of economics, accounting and finance, marketing, and Public Relations, which allows them to independently assess the financial position of a company and take care of its further development while shaping the company’s external image in cooperation with the media.

During the first semester of their studies, students learn theoretical knowledge of energy systems in cities and buildings, as well as computer analysis and design methods. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures, practical exercises, and laboratories. Upon successful completion of this stage of the program, they receive a certificate confirming the acquired knowledge. In the second semester, they apply this knowledge to solve engineering problems with modern tools and methods.

We offer a Master's course in Process Engineering, Environmental Protection for international students. The program provides knowledge on modern technologies of water treatment, wastewater treatment, waste management and utilization. Graduate is able to solve problems related to planning, designing and control of technological processes, supervision and operation of installations for water and wastewater treatment as well as disposal and management of municipal and industrial wastes, independently or in an international team. Graduate knows and applies advanced research techniques and tools as well as analytical and simulation methods.

The raw materials sector is entering a new era that requires companies to transform their operations, create new business models, and foster a digital culture. In this context, the minerals industry is facing a changing talent landscape, necessitating of new skill sets in their workforce. Companies need to ensure that their staff is properly constituted to support this transformation process. In the raw materials sector, technology is not an end in itself. The greatest impact will come from embedding different new technologies as an integrated whole and all across the mining value chain. Each opportunity is significant in itself, but achieving the full potential of all opportunities is possible only if they are pursued in an integrated way. The key to doing this is to have cross-functional teams that understand both mining operations and the technologies and are able to integrate new technologies into operations. Companies must be able to get the right people with the necessary skill set to maximize value creation. Miners must prepare their workforce today to meet the demands of tomorrow’s digital age or risk future growth and innovation. Over time, mining work will evolve toward knowledge-based jobs that solve the same challenges as today but do so through different means, and at the same time, face new challenges. The mining companies that recognize this shift today and best navigate the changes ahead will be the winners of tomorrow.

The new specialization “Smart Environmental Planning and Design” in the Master of Spatial Planning program equips students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills to address contemporary environmental and urban challenges, focusing on global green deals and digitalization of the planning process.

Architecture for Society of Knowledge is a professional program focused on digital design and crucial aspects of architecture and urban planning. The duration of the program is 4 semesters.
