Molecular Sciences has in recent years emerged as a field somewhat broader than Chemistry, as its activities include methods and technologies which previously were linked to e.g. physics and biotechnology. Molecular Sciences includes the analysis of molecules at all levels, ranging from physical properties, through chemical reactivity, to interactions in larger assemblies, such as in a biological cell.

The Master's program in Biomedicine will shed light on contemporary problems and methods in biomedicine. You will be trained in experimental work as well as written and oral presentations of independent scientific papers.

The program is highly practical and experimental, where the students learn to design, develop, and program advanced data systems. The Marine Biotechnology program at UiT’s the Norwegian College of Fishery Science aims to educate candidates in the broad field of biotechnology with emphasis on application to marine systems or “Blue Biotechnology”. Students become well prepared for careers in industry and/or research because of our joint focus on innovation and fundamental scientific principles placed between biology and engineering. Students receive one-on-one mentorship and supervision from a professional UiT researcher and typically join an established research group to complete their final project.

The academic contents of the program are geared towards modern issues in mathematics and statistics, and towards the appliance of mathematics and statistics in technology and other natural sciences. The candidates will gain relevant skills within programming, data processing, analytical problem solving and quantitative analysis.

This study program gives a comprehensive understanding of all aspects and challenges related to both land-based and offshore activities in a vulnerable and harsh environment. Special attention is given to technical and operational solutions, as well as safety-related issues. Learning methods include teamwork, individual project work, lectures, and assignments, with the objective to gain a deep understanding and master the prevailing tools and techniques.
