At the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (CING) we encourage our students to embark on the journey of Biotechnology, making a difference and a positive contribution to science and society. Biotechnology is undoubtedly important for its implications in various sectors of everyday life, utilizing cellular and bio-molecular processes that pave the way for the generation of cutting-edge new technologies and products that help improve life and nature in general. In particular, Biotechnology is the technology that uses living microorganisms to develop or create different products. Examples include the use of yeast in cheese and bread making, and the use of viral vectors for the creation of human vaccines (ie SARS-CoV-2 vaccine). Overall, recent advances in Biotechnology had a positive impact on the production of healthy food, improvement of the medical sector, reducing the world’s environmental footprint, and reducing the rate of infectious diseases. As a result, Biotechnology is widely considered to be the engine of the global economy in the 21st century.

The MSc/MPhil in Environmental and Energy Sciences promotes research excellence and educates students on the scientific frontiers and advanced methodologies at the vanguard of interconnected issues related to Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences, Water Sciences, Energy and Sustainability.

The program promotes excellence and educates students on the significant issues in Molecular Medicine. The challenging curricula includes mandatory taught courses which cover the main aspects of Molecular Medicine and a number of elective courses enabling students to broaden their knowledge of other fields of Molecular Medicine. The MSc Research or Library Projects on various aspects of Molecular Medicine are conducted in the state-of-the-art Departments and Clinics of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING).

The M.Sc. in Biodiversity Conservation program has a duration of 3 academic semesters (and up to 8 semesters for part-time study) and requires the completion of 90 ECTS. It combines a course component of 60 ECTS in total for which each student can choose from a list of Restricted Elective Courses (see Postgraduate Prospectus) as the series of compulsory departmental postgraduate seminars.

The MSc in Occupational Health is a full-time program which provides a multidisciplinary approach to occupational health management in the workplace, including occupational medicine and hygiene, ergonomics, epidemiology, psychology, public health, risk assessment and management, law and training and development.

The postgraduate program aims to provide of postgraduate education of a high standard and generate graduates in the field of Agricultural Biotechnology in its broad sense, able to support the country's competitiveness and productivity, by providing services, expertise and research, leading to direct and indirect positive effects on the social and economic developmental at the regional and national level. The Master's Degree programme offers theoretical training in basic sciences governing biotechnological achievements, with advanced modules in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Microbiology and specialized modules in Genetic Engineering, Biotechnological Applications, Bio-economics, Bioethics and Biosafety, Molecular Ecology and Bioinformatics.
