Public health nursing is an independent nursing occupation in Japan. All public health nurses (PHNs) are educated as nurses and public health nurses and have licensure as a registered nurse and separate licensure as a PHN. The minimum length of education and training required to receive licensure in Japan is three years for nurses and one year for PHNs. There are various PHN educational programs in Japan, such as graduate school Master’s courses; undergraduate courses; junior college non-degree courses; four-year special training college courses for nurses and PHNs; and one-year PHN schools. Our faculty believes that PHNs should be educated and trained at the graduate level to improve the quality of their practice, so OUNHS was the first school in Japan to establish a Master’s degree PHN course in 2011.

Midwifery is an independent nursing occupation in Japan. All midwives are educated as nurses and midwives and have licensure as a registered nurse and separate licensure as a midwife. The minimum length of education and training required to receive licensure in Japan is three years for nurses and one year for midwives. There are various midwifery education programs in Japan, such as graduate school Master’s courses; undergraduate courses; undergraduate non-degree programs; undergraduate special courses; junior college non-degree programs; and vocational schools. The current midwifery environment in Japan is characterized by the progression of our declining birthrate, the aging of expectant mothers, a lack of obstetricians, a decrease in parturient facilities, and a concurrent advancement of perinatal medicine and assisted reproductive technology. Therefore, midwives are required to possess advanced diagnostic and practical midwifery skills and the ability to collaborate with other medical professionals including obstetricians.

MSc in Finance program is a full-time, two-year program conducted in English. It is designed to cultivate human resources with financial knowledge and technical know-how needed for entrepreneurial activities.

This faculty was opened as the first coeducational faculty of nutrition in Japan. It takes pride in being a traditional faculty of nutrition and has produced many registered dietitians and nutrition teachers, medical technologists, and food sanitation inspectors (administrators) who are involved in the maintenance and advancement of human health. The course of Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics for producing national registered dietitians, and Course of Medical Technologies for producing medical technologists, were established to provide human resources with a rich education and high degree of professionalism.

The Master of Science in Sustainability programme is a two-year programme, which provides students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to contribute to solving challenges of sustainability. Drawing on an innovative, interdisciplinary approach, the programme integrates methods and resources from the natural and social sciences, as well as the humanities. The programme is intended for recent graduates, professionals and practitioners who seek to meaningfully contribute to the work of governments, civil society, the private sector, and/or the UN and other international organizations in the area of sustainability. bioengineering is the field in which the organisms find and dexterous functions such as recognition, transmission, movement, and biosynthesis are investigated, and its outcome is employed for practical applications. Bioengineering major has been established to train students as high-leveled established engineers or researchers who are experts in the basics and application of biology-related sciences. Courses offered are planned to provide knowledge in wide areas of both basics and applications.

This field cultivates skillful engineers who have knowledge of plan, design, construction, and management of social infrastructures. To achieve the objective, this field seeks motivated, wide perspective and problem-solving oriented persons who are eager to learn the construction technology which supports manufacturing activities, who are interested in creating space for human living, and who consider harmony with nature.

This course is designed to cultivate resources corresponding to the space age in the fields of space environmental science, global environment measurement technology, satellite communication engineering, and information processing engineering. For these purposes, students study advanced technology for space and the earth's environment on the basis of knowledge about techniques of electronics and information engineering. We welcome the following students. 1.Students with a strong interest in space and the global environment, and who have basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and fundamental engineering skills. 2.Students with a strong spirit of challenge who will strive to solve even the most difficult problems by leveraging the knowledge and engineering skills they have acquired. 3.Students who have a highly inquisitive mind and a spirit of cooperation.

In recent years there have been considerable developments with the increasing sophistication and specialization of medical technology, and the demands placed on medical care for prefectural residents continue to grow more diverse as well. In the midst of this, there have been growing expectations when it comes to cultivating in-hospital educational instructors for nursing positions and fostering human resources with the advanced knowledge and skills for the radiological technology sector.
