Then Governance and Leadership European Public Health might just be the program for you. This unique program provides you with the background and skills to analyze public health systems throughout Europe. During the research master’s in Global Health, you will study cross-cutting aspects of health problems and healthcare systems with students from all over the world. Do you want to help minimize the global impact of epidemic diseases or illnesses that spread after a natural disaster? Or are you driven to address the worldwide inequities in access to healthcare? Then Global Health could be just the program for you. It provides you with the theoretical foundation, methodology and tools you need to function effectively in this challenging field. You’ll also work on assignments with students from other countries, giving you a unique interdisciplinary, cross-cultural learning experience. After you’ve graduated, you can pursue a career as a health professional in an international setting. You could, for example, become a policymaker, a health advocate or a social entrepreneur.

The HSP track combines cutting-edge interdisciplinary research with practical policy questions, aiming to solve complex public health problems related to societal issues like an ageing population, increasing levels of chronic diseases, widening health inequalities, migration and urbanization. You learn to tackle issues like these from various academic disciplines, as you are taught and supervised by experts in economics, spatial sciences, psychology, sociology, and medicine. The track is a small-scale selective programme that is embedded within the research master Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology (CPE) and is an initiative of the University Medical Center Groningen and the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health.

The Master of Science in Health and Environment has the fundamentals of the separate disciplines within Health and Environment and the added value. You will have the possibility to pick one of these three in-depth tracks: Toxicology, Environmental Epidemiology and Exposure Science or One Health.

Master Psychology: Health and Social Psychology studies behaviour and behavioural change using methods from clinical and social psychology. The main focus is on understanding how people’s personalities, cognitions and social environment influence their health and social functioning.

‘Health, Ageing and Society’ is the new name for the Master’s Vitality and Ageing. We are ready for change – are you?! The name reflects the broad contents of the study and it better reflects what the programme stands for. Approximately 150 students have graduated since the start of the programme in 2016. Nature and nurture: how do they interact and correlate? Is health and wellbeing in our genes or is the environment the most important source of differences between people? And can we use DNA to predict our health? Both twin studies and molecular genetic studies have highlighted the influence of our genetic code on behavior and health. To adequately understand and influence behavior and health, we need to increase our knowledge of the way our genes play their part, by themselves and when interacting with our environment.

Why are smoking behaviour and financial problems related? How can digital interventions support the mental health of young adults? Which behavioural change techniques are most effective in countering obesity in deprived neighborhoods? How do we motivate people to stay healthy, live a meaningful life, and actively participate to society when they become older? If you're curious about the answers to these questions and more, this master track is the right choice! By the end of this programme, you will be equipped with scientific knowledge and practical experience in behaviour change methods and technologies, ready to make a real impact on health-related societal challenges.
