As a master student in geosciences at UiT The Arctic University of Norway you can choose among a large variety of topics that are relevant for the future of society. You can choose topics related to past and present climate change, environmental geology, terrestrial and marine geohazards, the formation of mountain chains, as well as the formation and distribution of natural resources.

The progress of all master's candidates is monitored biannually by the supervisor and the postgraduate coordinator. A candidate's study may be terminated if the progress is unsatisfactory or if the candidate is unable to finish his/her studies during the prescribed period.

The program provides advanced training in geology, applicable to geological problem-solving. Built on existing strong minerals exploration MSc programs, TIMREX is a joint master’s degree in mineral exploration with add-on innovation and entrepreneurship skills. The program has a strong emphasis on field activities and the application of innovative exploration techniques and solutions is the specialty of TIMREX among the EIT-Labelled master programs.
