The MS program in Biomedical Engineering (BME) welcomes students from diverse backgrounds, including: students with undergraduate degrees in biomedical engineering and other engineering disciplines who seek advanced professional training or specialization in a particular area of biomedical engineering; students with an undergraduate degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology or other fields of natural or health science who seek to diversify their career opportunities by acquiring an engineering degree; students who are preparing for admission to advanced health-related or other professional programs such as medical school; professional engineers with undergraduate degrees in other disciplines who plan to enter the field of biomedical engineering.

Materials engineers learn how to create, test, and implement cutting-edge materials to solve today's and tomorrow’s problems. A fundamental understanding of materials science, materials engineering, and manufacturing are critical for students with a BS degree in biomedical engineering, civil engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or other backgrounds to further their materials knowledge. The Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM) program at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering bridges the gap between technology and business by equipping students with the technical expertise and leadership skills they need to advance their careers in the fast-paced world of technology.

Engineering management prepares engineers for careers in the management of engineering and technical organizations and systems. The program consists of a set of four foundational courses in the analysis of data-driven economic decision making, as well as a set of four specialization courses.

The Masters of Science (M.S.) degree program in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering is designed for a broad range of students and professionals seeking to expand on their undergraduate training, enhance professional skills, and gain the experience necessary to become a professional scientist/engineer or to obtain a solid foundation for further education in science and engineering.

Offered in collaboration with the Miller School of Medicine, the MS and BS/MS programs in neural engineering focus on challenging issues, such robotic movement systems, bioengineered materials, the brain-computer interface, and treatments for neural degenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.

The non-thesis Master of Science in Materials Engineering provides students an advanced level of knowledge in mechanical properties, materials structure, materials thermodynamics, kinetics, and electrical, optical, and magnetic properties of materials.
