The Master of Business Administration / Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering is offered as a dual-degree, administered jointly by the Department of Manufacturing Engineering and the School of Management.

The department of mechanical engineering is desired to correspond to the development of computer networks, the globalization of society, the environmental problems, and the aging society, and to make a social contribution through joint research projects with companies. The objective of this department is to nurture leading engineers and researchers who can create advanced machines and systems through education and research in the fields of information and control, production, the human environment, and materials.

Our primary educational focus is on drawing out the inherent talent of each student, and awakening their ability to independently pose questions and work to solve them. For this purpose, the program offers three schools: Fundamental Science and Technology, Integrated Design Engineering, and Science for Open and Environmental Systems. These schools provide a flexible structure so that students can freely cross the boundaries between different fields of research. Our aim is to foster the capacity not only to produce innovative world-class research, but to provide our society with leadership.

This field cultivates skillful engineers who have knowledge of plan, design, construction, and management of social infrastructures. To achieve the objective, this field seeks motivated, wide perspective and problem-solving oriented persons who are eager to learn the construction technology which supports manufacturing activities, who are interested in creating space for human living, and who consider harmony with nature.

For the continuing advancement of mankind, we should establish materials cycles and energy flows that harmonize with nature. In this course, students study the design, synthesis, and practical use of environment-conscious materials which require less energy for production and which can safely enter the earth's ecosystem. Aiming at fostering distinguished researchers and engineers to create and manage the next generation's fundamental material technology, this course provides education for the creation of new materials and the methods and technologies required to assess such new materials' characteristics.

bioengineering is the field in which the organisms find and dexterous functions such as recognition, transmission, movement, and biosynthesis are investigated, and its outcome is employed for practical applications. Bioengineering major has been established to train students as high-leveled established engineers or researchers who are experts in the basics and application of biology-related sciences. Courses offered are planned to provide knowledge in wide areas of both basics and applications.
