The Master of Renewable Energy (MS) program helps students develop practical skills and knowledge required to critically evaluate alternative energy sources, and provide applied solutions to the energy demand. The major is decidedly interdisciplinary in nature, focusing on the underlying natural processes relating to renewable energy and employing the scientific method.

The Master of Science in Energy Systems Management program brings together diverse and highly motivated students from various academic and professional backgrounds, both U.S. and international. The two-year course of study meets the needs of both full-time students and working professionals, with classes held on weekday evenings at USF's downtown San Francisco campus.

Our 30-unit program in MS in Environmental Management offers a rigorous yet flexible mix of courses that integrate environmental science and engineering with policy and management knowledge. MSEM includes the option for a concentration in Ecology, Water Management, Environmental Health & Hazards, or Energy and Climate, as well as the option for a GIS certificate.

The Master of Science in Energy Management degree program prepares students for careers in oil and gas (upstream, midstream, and downstream), coal, renewable energy, nuclear energy, power companies, banks and financial institutions, domestic and foreign government energy agencies, energy-focused consulting firms and major energy-consuming corporations. Courses incorporate a variety of techniques to teach students how to value energy companies and projects, develop operating strategies, negotiate contracts, and manage energy-specific risks.

Petrophysics is the study of the physical and chemical properties of reservoirs (rocks and fluids). It is the first such program in North America and addresses properties of subsurface rock formations and the fluid within those strata with particular application to the petroleum exploration and production industry. The course work including the graduate research project is a multidisciplinary program with Geology, Physics, and Natural Gas Engineering courses.

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering offers a program of graduate study leading to a Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) degree with a major in Renewable and Clean Energy. The

Applications in Nuclear Energy Specialize in nuclear fuel processing, materials, radioactive waste treatment and management, thermal behavior and measurement, nuclear systems design and modeling or applications of nuclear process heat and learn to harness the power of pollution-free energy. This program will give you the technical education and research experiences you need to work in industry, government or academia.

We are proud to offer South Carolina's only nuclear engineering graduate program. Our graduates work across the country designing and operating nuclear power plants, developing tools that apply radiation in diagnostic and industrial processes, and designing energy systems including power systems that operate satellites and deep-space probes.

The objectives of the graduate studies in the Chemical and Natural Gas Engineering programs are as follows. To prepare students for successful careers and major contributions to the natural gas, petroleum, and chemical process industries by instilling in them fundamental concepts as well as practical knowledge of modern engineering to overcome current as well as future challenges of the industries.
