5 Aviation Safety MSc Degree Programs

Aviation is an industry where safety is non-negotiable — and human factors play a defining role in achieving it. The MSc Aviation Safety & Human Factors is designed for professionals who aspire to lead, innovate, and influence safety culture within the aviation sector.

The MSc in Safety and Human Factors in Aviation equips students with industry-relevant skills, delivered through a mix of lectures and practical exercises by the well-established Safety and Accident Investigation Centre, which has supported global safety and investigation for over 30 years.

The MSc in Safety and Accident Investigation identifies the systemic factors of accidents, learn to implement corrective actions and contributes to improving safety practices. This course will provide you with an academically recognised, high-standard qualification and industry-leading training.

The development and maintenance of effective security management have a pivotal role to play in all areas of the aviation sector – with a continually evolving and dynamic threat and risk landscape bringing constant and moving challenges. In cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), this MSc in Aviation Security allows you to explore and develop theories and methodologies to mitigate these risks and consider and analyse the future of safe and secure aviation. By working together, Buckinghamshire New University and ICAO aim to realise the needs of the aviation industry for qualified and knowledgeable aviation security professionals through the creation and promotion of learning that is accessible by mature professionals and the next generation.

The MTSU Department of Aerospace offers three Master of Science in Aeronautical Science concentrations. The Aviation Management concentration is a management and operations-oriented degree program designed in cooperation with industry representatives. The study focuses on airport activities and organizational structures, aviation contracts and leases, and aviation systems management. The Aviation Education concentration is designed to serve students interested in the conduct of aviation education, training, or professional development programs, or in the administration of such programs. Students in this concentration take classes in both the Aerospace Department and MTSU College of Education. The Safety and Security Management concentration is designed to provide students the knowledge and expertise necessary to develop and manage aviation safety and security programs. Studies include safety management systems (SMS), aviation security, aviation safety investigation, and human factors in aviation.
