30 Atmospheric Sciences MSc Degree Programs

The Atmospheric Science study program is a study of physics with a special focus on the atmosphere. Our program focuses on research-oriented learning and offers individual specializations. Atmospheric Science is a degree program with fascinating topics: climate, environment, and weather or computer simulations, satellites, physical theory.

We offer PhD and MS degrees in 6 programs: Atmospheric Sciences, Marine Biology & Ecology, Environmental Science & Policy, Marine Geosciences, Meteorology & Physical Oceanography, and Ocean Sciences. We offer highly competitive stipend rates, tuition, and health insurance coverage for our incoming PhD students as part of a fully-funded 5-year Graduate Assistantship. Finally, as part of our revitalized connections across colleges and to take advantage of our unique research facilities, we offer an MS degree in both Ocean Engineering and Sustainable Business. Our graduate students also take advantage of nearby NOAA facilities including the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, Southeast Fisheries Science Center, and the National Hurricane Center. The Master's program in Atmospheric and Near Space Sciences offers a modern, complex training for understanding the processes taking place in the Earth’s lower and upper atmosphere-ionosphere under different helio-geophysical conditions, for their modeling and forecasting. students will learn theoretical and observational methods of atmospheric research, data processing, and numerical modeling.

Thinking about studies and a career in climate change, weather predictions or environmental challenges? Our MSc program lets you customize your studies and apply your knowledge in mathematics, physics, and chemistry to understand the atmosphere and the oceans. Through this interdisciplinary program, you will get a broad comprehension of how physical and chemical processes influence the Earth's climate and how we can explain the relationship between human activity and climate change.

The Master of Professional Science (MPS) is an accelerated, graduate degree intended for students who want to generate innovative solutions to the marine, coastal, and climate-related issues (take same courses as PhD and Master of Science / MS students, but instead of research with a faculty member, students do research and projects in the field). Students enrolled in this program are exposed to a unique, multidisciplinary curriculum, including science theory, field and laboratory training, legal and regulatory knowledge, communication and media training, and the development of project management skills, designed to prepare them to address environmental challenges as future global leaders. GRE not required!

The progress of all master's candidates is monitored biannually by the supervisor and the postgraduate coordinator. A candidate's study may be terminated if the progress is unsatisfactory or if the candidate is unable to finish his/her studies during the prescribed period.
