Learn more about Archaeology and Anthropology MSc degree programs

Studying human societies, past and present, takes on a new depth at Master's level. An MSc in Archaeology and Anthropology moves well beyond foundational theory, asking you to design original research, work with primary evidence, and contribute something genuinely new to the field.

The learning environment fosters intellectual independence and a rigorous engagement with both scientific methods and humanistic interpretation. You'll likely choose a specialization, whether that's zooarchaeology, forensic anthropology, cultural heritage management, or bioarchaeology, and your coursework will reflect that focus. Expect to develop competencies in spatial analysis using GIS, the interpretation of osteological data, ethnographic fieldwork methods, and advanced research design.

At this level, your dissertation carries real weight. You'll identify a research gap, gather and analyze primary data, and present findings to academic standards. That process opens paths into roles such as heritage consultant, museum curator, research archaeologist, environmental impact assessor, or academic researcher. Many graduates also move into policy, conservation, or international development work where deep knowledge of human behavior and material culture is genuinely useful.
