The Associate of Applied Sciences in Medical Assisting (AASMA) was designed to meet the demands of a continuously evolving healthcare market. By intensifying and expanding the training, the AASMA Graduate will be competent not only as a Medical Assistant, but also in the areas of Phlebotomy, Electrocardiography, and advanced Patient Care.

The Medical Assistant program prepares students as multi-skilled health care workers who function as assistants to physicians and other health care professionals in a variety of ambulatory care settings. The responsibilities of the medical assistant include administrative and clinical duties.

The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree is a 24-month program which begins in July is divided into didactic and clinical sections. The didactic portion of the program will include a combination of basic science courses and laboratories as well as classes and laboratories in the applied medical sciences.

The Physician Assistant program at Thiel College features two distinct paths to earning a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies: Pathway 1 - Highly motivated high school seniors can enroll in our accelerated five-year program. Students will earn a traditional four-year bachelor’s degree in Health Systems and continue at Thiel for a fifth year to complete the master’s degree program. Please refer to the Health systems major for additional information regarding the undergraduate degree. Pathway 2 – Students who have already completed a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and wish to attain a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Thiel College should explore our 27-month post-baccalaureate program.

The mission of the Thiel College Master of Science in Physician Assistant program is to graduate physician assistants who have the disciplinary knowledge and skills, clinical preparation, and dispositions to provide excellent patient care and serve the needs of their community.

Trevecca's Pre-PA Pathway allows students to tailor their undergraduate academic experience to prepare a competitive PA school application and maximize success in Trevecca’s PA program. This pathway consists of the courses required for a major in biology with a minor in chemistry, along with defined upper-level electives focused on building a solid foundation for PA school.

Students are required to achieve a grade of 2.0 or better for all HIT and MA courses.

The Medical and Health Services Management bachelor’s degree provides health care practitioners, holding an associate’s degree in an allied health field, with the skills and competencies needed to function as managers and supervisors in healthcare settings.
