The Ph.D. Program in Applied Mathematics for Economics and Management is designed to meet the needs of those who wish to enhance their knowledge of mathematical methods and techniques in order to make original contributions in a particular field or to develop and implement solutions for problems in the areas of Economics and Management.

The Advanced Formation Course in Mathematics at the University of Aveiro (CFAMat-UA) allows for a more advanced scientific training, or an additional training in Mathematics, and diploma conferring. It is aimed at candidates with a master's degree in mathematics (or in a relevant related area) who seek a more advanced scientific training of shorter duration, less expensive, and with possibility for a future application to the Doctoral Program in Mathematics at the UA.

The Master in Mathematics for Teachers is an opportunity for teachers to enrich their knowledge on mathematics topics related to the syllabus of elementary and secondary education.

The Master's degree in Mathematics and Applications, in addition to the possibility of pursuing studies in doctoral programs, aims to provide the required capabilities to solve a wide range of problems in business, industrial and service institutions that require advanced data analysis or model analysis techniques, such as consultancy, software development, insurance, banking and finance, logistics, telecommunications, industrial and technological development centers, among others.The students of this master's degree have interned in recognized companies in those sectors of activity.

The Doctoral Program in Mathematics of Aveiro University (DPMat-UA) offers a doctoral course that has as main goal the training of high qualified researchers in Mathematics. The Master in Data Science, a partnership between the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI) and the Department of Mathematics (DMat), allows strengthening the knowledge and skills in data exploration and machine learning, with an emphasis on extracting actionable information from large-scale data. The Doctoral Program in Mathematics presents advanced training in Theoretical and Applied Mathematics, with an emphasis on Algebra and Logic (Number Theory and Cryptography), in Mathematical Analysis (Differential Equations, Calculus of Variations and Optimal Control, Dynamical Systems and Numerical Applications) and in Statistics (Statistics, Operational Research and Probabilities). In the dissertation, an in-depth study of a part of Mathematics and/or its applications is required in order to overcome the frontiers of mathematical knowledge when solving open problems and/or starting a new theory.

The 2nd Cycle in Mathematics and Applications aims to train masters with advanced knowledge and skills in Mathematics that allow them to understand, formulate and solve theoretical and practical problems, using specific Mathematics methods.

The Degree in Mathematics from the NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA was created in 1983. Over the years it has undergone several curriculum reorganizations. In 2006 it was adapted to the requirements of the Bologna model, having a duration of 3 years and 180 ECTS.

The current challenges of companies linked to risk, such as banking, insurance, pension funds and finance, increasingly need professionals with the ability to apply mathematical, statistical and actuarial methodologies that allow them to identify, quantify and manage the risks inherent to these activities. The Degree in Mathematics Applied to Risk Management is designed to train professionals with solid knowledge of Applied Mathematics to work in areas related to risk management. Whenever possible, the resolution of real cases in a computational environment is privileged.
