9 Social Science Master's Degree Programs in Taiwan

Master Program in Hakka Social and Cultural Studies, the first Hakka academic research and educational organization in Taiwan, was established in August 2003. Taiwan is a multicultural society, with a variety of ethnic groups that speak different languages, for example, the aboriginal, Holo, Hakka, etc.

The cross-continental course is taught in Germany, Taiwan and Mexico by semester. Excellent teachers from each school teach the socio-economic overview of Asia, Europe and the Americas in English, and discuss cross-strait relations, the European Union and the North American Free Trade Agreement according to local conditions. Important topics not only increase business management knowledge and understand the global competitive environment and changes in major economies, but also help expand students' international vision and experience.

The Master Program in Hakka Political Economy, Department of Hakka Language and Social Sciences was established in the College of Hakka Studies, on August 1, 2004.

Master Program in Hakka Language and Literature of the Department of Hakka Language and Social Sciences was established in August 2004. We enrolled ten students every year, targeting at people who like to address themselves to Hakka language and literature studies.

The Graduate Institute of Family Education and Counseling has been officially integrated into the Department of Counseling since 2010. The new department offers an undergraduate programs, master’s programs, evening undergraduate programs, and in-service master’s programs. Integrating family education and counseling, the department endeavors to provide professional training that covers family education, family and community counseling, school counseling, and corporate counseling from the perspective of human service. In addition to providing complete access to human service education, the department expects to meet the needs of the general public and families and become the first department in Taiwan specializing in the fields of family education, community education, and school education.

The Master's Program in International Affairs originated as the Graduate School of International Affairs (GSIA), the Republic of China (Taiwan)'s first and only graduate program specializing in the study of international/global governance and globalization. It strives to build a professional platform focusing on theoretical and practical knowledge of international/global governance and international/global business operations, which nurtures faculty and students with international and global vision of governance and globalization, provides faculty and students with an international environment, cooperation opportunities and academic support, as well as aims to train future leaders in a variety of professional settings. In 2014, GSIA transformed to the Master's Program in International Affairs, open to international students only.

The Master’s Program in Asian Studies is carried out by Graduate Institute of Asian Studies. It is it sets up two sections, one Japanese Studies, another one Southeast Asian Studies.

International students are eligible for degree programs in the Day Division that offers master, bachelor, and associate degrees. Candidates’ diplomas and related qualification certificates should be verified by Taiwan’s overseas representative offices or authorized agencies for admission applications.

Founded in 1983, the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies (GIIASS) focuses on research in international politics, international security, regional affairs, and strategy.
