1822 Natural Sciences Master's Degree Programs

This joint Masters programme in Marine Biotechnology is an integrated multidisciplinary programme offered within the framework of one of the first transnational European universities. The programme provides the student with a high-quality academic education, building professional competences in the area of marine biotechnology (also called blue biotechnology) and helping to address its global challenges.

The International Master's (Second Cycle Degree) in Statistical Sciences aims to train experts able to manage, analyze and interpret data in order to produce that knowledge required to support decision-making processes in private and public companies.

Biodiversity is at the heart of environmental science, addressing some of the most pressing global challenges, from climate change to species conservation. The Integrative Biodiversity programme provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding and protecting the natural world. With a strong emphasis on scientific communication and teamwork, this programme equips graduates with the skills needed to make a real impact in biodiversity conservation and environmental management.

The Pharmaceutical Sciences study program puts stress especially on study of pharmaceutical disciplines as pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmacology, natural drugs and drug forms, especially knowledge of pharmaceutical analysis and drug research. It is two years lasting follow-up master program. Specializations are not part of the study program.

The Department of Computer Sciences offers graduate courses in computer science. In addition, a joint media arts and computer science degree is offered by the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Communication and Fine Arts. The Department of Computer Science trains students in the fields of computer science.

Initially, basic common theoretical courses are taught, suitably complemented by courses in materials science, management, and quality management. The study program also covers the subjects of iron and steel production, foundry, and bulk-forming.

The Masters in Actuarial Science at ISEG (University of Lisbon) offers a solid academic foundation in actuarial science, statistics, and finance. It was designed according to the international requirements for the actuarial profession. It is meant to cover most of the course materials indispensable for the accreditation of an actuary in the European Union, in accordance with The Actuarial Association of Europe.

The aim of the program is to prepare the professionals that possess the advanced knowledge and skills in both biotechnology and materials science by combining the desing and problem-solving skills of engineering with the ones of biomedical sciences and are capable of using the acquired knowledge while solving practical problems in the biomedically oriented scientific research.

The study program Masters in Advanced Engineering Materials, taught in English, is a follow-up to the bachelor study program in Materials Engineering. The study program is intended primarily for foreign students – self-payers. The study program focuses on a wide range of advanced engineering materials, their structure and properties, in particular the relationship between material properties and their structure, the possibilities of further material processing and various methods of material properties testing.

Strongly increasing societal demand in the fields of Environment, Sustainable Development and Health, implies a synergy of advanced skills in Chemistry and Biology Sciences. In order to be able to effectively respond to this demand and to implement innovative solutions providing efficient answers to these requests, it is essential to perfectly understand the interaction of contaminants with living organisms and particularly their structures, properties, reactivities/activities in natural ecosystems.

The Master of Applied Genetics at the faculty of Natural Sciences and Medicine will train students to an international standard, incorporating current biomolecular technology. Quite simply, the use of biotechnology, in particular, molecular genetics applications, is now ubiquitous in commerce and research.

The Department of Chemistry "Ugo Schiff" of the University of Florence offers a new Master course in Advanced Molecular Sciences to train and educate the next generation of chemists on the cutting-edge aspects of research in Chemistry of Materials and Life Sciences that will give them the skills required for an advanced career in industry and academia. The Master will be conducted in English.
