17 Nanoscience Master's Degree Programs

Nanomaterials are an increasingly important product of nanotechnologies. They are coming into use in the fields of healthcare, electronics, cosmetics, and other areas. Materials with a structure at the nanoscale often have unique optical, electronic, or mechanical properties. Moreover, the physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials often differ from those of bulk materials, so our graduates will gain in-depth knowledge of nanomaterials.

Admission to the nano-SE MS program requires a bachelor's in an engineering or science discipline based on physical science. The Introduction to Nanoscience course is offered for students from a range of backgrounds as an introduction to nanotechnology. The objectives of this master’s degree are to educate future managers, engineers, and researchers in the field of nanotechnology and give them the tools to handle recent advances in nanotechnology and biology. Graduates will be ready to undertake international projects in which these different fields overlap. École Centrale de Lyon is the leading institution of this Université de Lyon master’s program, which is accredited jointly with INSA Lyon and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.

Nanoscience and nanotechnology are disciplines at the cutting-edge of scientific knowledge. They combine aspects of basic and applied sciences applied to specific fields, such as biotechnology, medicine, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, physics, materials engineering, sciences and electronic engineering. Nanoscience and nanotechnology are therefore key areas of interdisciplinary research and development, in which activity is increasing across the globe.

The master in Nanoscience and Molecular Nanotechnology is an interuniversity Master participated by 7 Spanish Universities. It addresses aspects that are at the intersection of one of the most novel sciences today, the Nanoscience, with traditional scientific aspects of the Molecular Science such as Molecular Electronics, Molecular Magnetism, Supramolecular Chemistry, Surface Physics, or Science of Molecular Materials. The Master is aimed at training students in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology so that they can develop a professional activity in this field, or a research activity leading to a Doctoral Thesis.

The Interuniversity Master's Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology responds to the need to integrate into a body of knowledge the advances that are taking place in the field of nanoscience and the technological applications of nanosystems.

Nanomaterials are found in the center of contemporary technological evolution that has direct impacts on the daily life of human beings. This 2-years master's program of Advanced Materials Science and Nanotechnology at USTH is designed with aims to provide depth knowledge (both academia and practical knowledge) to students about all aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Two tracks are currently provided, namely Materials Science, Devices and Nanotechnology (Nanophysics); Materials Science and Nanochemistry (Nanochemistry). With proposed courses ranging from the foundation of materials to current trenches in research & development of advanced functional materials together with courses dealing with management, production quality control, etc, students are trained to be ready for the next step of their academic career (Ph.D. preparation) or for a position in the industry (technical assistant or Research & Development engineer). Indeed, most of our master's students received PhD scholarships from reputed institutions in France, the USA, or other countries after graduation. Students are enrolled both at the USTH and at a French partner university. A six (6) months internship in France will be offered to students in the second year (Master 2). Graduated students will be awarded a double degree from French university and USTH.

ll courses are taught in English, so proficiency in English is required. Two of the Partners are engineering Universities (PL and IT), which is important for the program goals towards excellence in nano-engineering innovation. The third partner (FR) has a strong chemical nano-science profile which will allows us to teach our students the chemical fundamentals during the first semester in Marseille.
