Honours degree in History or relevant honours degree

This Program offers the student with a four-year BDiv, a BThHons or equivalent qualification, the opportunity of theological specialisation and research at master's level. The coursework modules, in case of the coursework master's degree, provide the opportunity to acquire specialist skills in the practical field of the Ministry.

We offer two Master specializations in the field of History Studies: Applied History, Global History, and International Relations.

The Modern and Contemporary History research Master’s programme offers you research-based training in history as an academic discipline. We teach you how to do research, and we challenge you to develop your own ideas on topics of your choice.

History in the Public Sphere is a two-year master's program, run by Central European University and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. It focuses on the ways the past is represented, contested, and negotiated in the public sphere, exploring various contexts from the early modern period to the present in a comparative and transnational way.

This programme brings together the disciplines of history and archaeology through the study of a specific region, the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

The Master's Degree in Cultural, Intellectual and Visual History, delivered entirely in English, aims to provide students with a solid preparation that combines historical knowledge from antiquity to the contemporary age, rigorous methods, critical thinking and familiarity with digital technologies. For the first year classes will be exclusively “in-person”, while for the second year classes will be “online” with the exception of specific activities, i.e. laboratories, possible meetings with the thesis supervisor, tutoring activities, and educational trips.

The objective of this Study Cycle is to confer professional teaching qualifications in accordance with the reference number 4 the Attachment of the Decree Law 79/2014 (Primary School Teacher and Teacher of Portuguese, History and Geography of Portugal – 6 to 12 year old pupils).

The Department of Historical Studies has a longstanding commitment to creating and developing innovative and sustainable linkages between teaching, research and social dissemination of academic knowledge. It patiently and systematically trains graduate students in the art of writing empirically solid, conceptually alive and socially relevant histories through a diverse but balanced platter of coursework, a series of lively seminars, workshops, conferences, and colloquia, and intimate and meticulous supervision of primary research. No wonder that the Department has played a consistently leading role in generating internationally recognised historical research of excellent quality and thereby training students for careers both within and beyond academia.

The main purpose of this interclass course is to integrate the historical and philosophical perspectives in the study of the phenomena of society and culture, according to a tradition of research and education that has characterised this university site since its foundation in the early 1970s.

The Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Historical Analysis of the Contemporary World is intended to prepare you for research and specialisation, allowing you to continue your education in an autonomous, critical manner, acquire research skills and conduct original historiographic research.

This entirely English-taught program offers an interdisciplinary approach, equipping you with the tools and skills to gain a deep understanding of the historical dimensions of globalization processes. Programme will run only following the completion of the established ministerial procedure.
