The Interdisciplinary Master’s in Art, Media, and Design (IAMD) draws experienced artists and designers from around the world, encouraging them to investigate and produce works that combine art, design, writing, and interdisciplinary academic study to create new forms of visual and social research and creative production. Each student’s primary discipline and chosen emphasis among art, design, or media practice and theoretical inquiry will determine whether the degree earned is an MFA, MDes, or MA. Our Master of Fine Arts degree focuses on material practice and creative research, informed by contemporary issues and developed in studio courses and research seminars through rigorous analysis, iteration, and critique.

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree program offers students the opportunity to pursue graduate study majoring in Art, New Media and Dramatic Arts. Each MFA degree program combines research, theory, and practice relevant to the discipline. Faculty, comprised of artists and scholars, foster an environment of active engagement with material and conceptual investigations in production and performance. The MFA allows graduate students to concentrate in their chosen disciplines and to synthesize their research into a Thesis.

Our low-residency MFA program is structured around three consecutive four-week summer intensive residencies on campus in Vancouver during the month of July, with innovative and interactive online coursework in between.
