The International Master of Science in Textile Engineering is a 2-year master programme educating the next generation of textile engineers. The first semester you will study at Ghent University in Belgium, the second semester at the Polytechnical University of Valencia in Spain (for the academic year 2022-2023), the third semester you can choose between the University of Borås in Sweden or the Kyoto Institute of Technology in Japan. During the fourth semester, you do a thesis at one of the partner universities. So you will study in Europe (and Japan). The professors teaching you come from all over the world.

The Department of Material Science deals with solid-state physics and materials chemistry and their relationship to basic physics of magnetism, dielectrics and superfluidity, superconductivity and semiconductors, ceramics, high polymers, functional proteins, and various materials. In the electronics materials field, the aim is to develop applications of studied principles as they pertain to certain devices, particularly electronic devices.

We will train researchers who have the ability to acquire knowledge in specialized fields related to engineering, propose new theories and technologies through research and experiments, and respond to international research presentation activities.

The technology in the industrial world has achieved remarkable progress recently, but in parallel, becoming multidisciplinary. Research and development companies have increased, which consequently leads to strong social demands for new technological developments as well as highly-specialized engineers who are capable of coping with those challenges. In response to this, we provide advanced education and research opportunities for trying to enrich the Masters's course of engineering research. In this major, by the spirit of our foundation, we promote personal research and development to training richly creative high-level engineers who can deal with fast-evolving technological renovation. We also re-educate society members who are engaged in research development.

We train mechanical engineers and researchers who can respond to the industrial society of the 21st century. Currently, in the world of machines, there is a strong demand for higher functionality, higher efficiency, and higher reliability by adding "information functions". In this department, based on the basics of mechanical engineering learned in the faculty, creative mechanical engineers and researchers who can respond to the future society will be referred to as "structural function", "production/processing", "energy function", and "system". We will train the four fields of "chemical function" as pillars of education.

The topics of learning and research include the theories and analysis methods concerning the hydrodynamics and the conveyance system in bays, rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Using such theories and analysis methods, studies are conducted for the improvement of issues such as water quality and environmental problems, and the water hazard problems of storm surge, flood, inundation, etc.

As science and technology become ever more sophisticated, and advances in the field take place at an ever-accelerating rate, so research and education in the sciences in graduate schools to generate researchers and highly skilled professionals, especially in Master's programs, become ever more necessary. This is reflected in the current employment market, where more companies are becoming increasingly aggressive in efforts to attract students to post-graduate programs. Some have even made a Master's degree a requirement for employment.
