The Master in Data Science, a partnership between the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI) and the Department of Mathematics (DMat), allows strengthening the knowledge and skills in data exploration and machine learning, with an emphasis on extracting actionable information from large-scale data. The Masters combines knowledge from the basic areas of Data Science, namely Mathematics and Informatics, providing both the theoretical foundations and the computational skills necessary for its application to different types of data and contexts.

The MECT aims to provide solid training in the fields of specialization of computer systems, information technology and telecommunications. It intends to train engineers capable of performing functions of planning, design, development and research of computational and connectivity systems and infrastructures, both for high performance and for specific applications, in areas as important today as cyber-physical systems, 5G telecommunications networks, data centers, wireless local area networks and sensor networks, among others. These are fundamental technological and knowledge areas in fields as important today as smart cities, mobility, the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and other vertical use cases, based on the Cloud and virtualized solutions, where flexibility, agility , sustainability and energy efficiency are increasingly essential.

The MDGD aims to provide advanced technical and scientific training in an area of fusion between Communication Sciences and Technologies and Computer Science, promoting interdisciplinarity in an area where creativity and technique come together.

Decision-making processes within companies and other organisations rely heavily on the knowledge decision-makers have about the reality in which the company operates (markets, customers, producers, etc.). Much of this knowledge can be drawn from data resulting from normal business activity, continuously accumulated by transactional information systems.

It is intended that the second cycle of studies leading to the degree of Master in Computer Engineering, based on the broadband training of the first cycle, will provide future Computer Engineers with solid training suitable for the job market, as well as serving as a basis attending the third cycle of studies in Computer Engineering.
