KIU offers a general education in a well-balanced interactive lecture format, in the western liberal arts style. Students start their college career with a good foundation in the basics, and on that foundation, each one builds in the particular interest area he/she has. As a student experiences the whole program at KIU, they develop in many areas: analytical thinking skills, communication skills. They learn these skills as they give presentations and take part in discussions.

Subject groups, as the first dimension of the GSB matrix, are composed of four subjects: Management, Accounting, Finance and Distribution, and Industry and Region. Every subject provides both basic and advanced knowledge of the area. Students can choose anyone as their major or minor. In the second dimension of the GSB matrix, there are five research units: Strategic Management, Management Information, International Business, Industry Creation, and Public and Environmental Management. Every research unit is designed for the purpose of specialized and focused research. Students can make a variety of choices by selecting different subjects and units. In addition, graduate students are supposed to take research methodological classes: Qualitative Methodology, Quantitative Methodology, and Systems Methodology. We also provide an MBA course called "Graduate Research Project for Business Experts and Executives". For this research project, we set different research themes and assign two faculty staff every year. Each theme continues for two years and usually is conducted by ten students.

In every specialization, dedicated teaching is given by experts through seminar classes. Furthermore, in addition to the specialization chosen by the student, there are film screenings of past or currently released movies, and various classes subjects like film theory and directing, researches on scenario and film music, amongst others. At the Department of Film production, students of various specialization fields work all year long on film production, sharing a common goal. Focused on films with a drama structure, from short films to feature films, those productions use a very broad range of media standards, to follow the current big wave of change: from film to video, 16mm to 35mm, as well as DV, HDV or HD The University brings an adapted budget, depending on the scale of the film, while students are in charge of the casting and the choice of the locations, as well as they, take care of having all the necessary material and accessories available. Furthermore, they experience professional production situations through internships and thus build their forthcoming relationship with society after the completion of their studies.

The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established at the same time as the merger of Keio University and Kyoritsu College of Pharmacy in 2008. The research and educational activities of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences are not limited to the areas of fundamental pharmaceutical sciences, but also extends to applied pharmaceutical disciplines, such as drug delivery and drug targeting, clinical pharmaceutics, clinical pathophysiology, clinical drug evaluation, drug informatics, evidence-based medicine, and regulatory sciences. This school is open for graduates from departments/schools of pharmaceutical sciences (4-year program) and those who have received education in equivalent level at other departments/schools.

For the academic year of 2017, the SESAMI Master’s program starts in October and can be completed in one and a half years (i.e., in March in the year after the next). During the first 12 months of the program (i.e., two semesters from October 1 to March 30 and from April 1 to September 30), a series of intensive courses are taught all in English by professors of Kobe University and of those affiliated with universities and research organizations overseas.
