BSBI, in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), offers the MA Visual Communication programme as part of its Faculty of Creative Industries in Hamburg, Germany. This 18-month master’s programme explores how visual messages are conveyed through a diverse range of media, including illustration, motion and digital designs. Students will develop creative skills while refining their design language.

The Visual Communication Designers who design them must be aware of this complexity, the implications and impacts of their work; they must also be able to read in depth and critically the phenomena and messages to be communicated, consciously moving in the various areas in which they are elaborated and understanding the social and cultural contexts in which those messages will be placed.   

The Master’s Degree in Visual Communication. Data Ecologies for Decoding Complexity trains visionary, conscious, and informed communication designers capable of using visual communication design as a tool to decode and translate the complexity of the contemporary world. These professionals will be equipped to facilitate creative team collaboration and collective processes for understanding and communicating change, as well as contributing to narrating and guiding it.

MA Visual Communication: Graphic Design is an intensive contemporary programme that combines creative and professional development, experience within a nurturing, experimental, interdisciplinary, studio-based environment. The course is focused on the development of imaginative and conceptually distinctive visual practices, in which qualities of invention and discovery are underpinned by rigorous specialist expertise, preparing students to achieve a broad range of creative ambitions.  

The Master in Audiovisual Communication for New Media (MCANM) emerges as a response to the most recent developments in the audiovisual area, namely the growing proliferation of new means of broadcasting audiovisual signal, of which smartphones, television/videocast solutions and others through the Internet, along with new interactive forms for the use and appropriation of these contents. In this context, the MCANM presents as the overall aims for the study cycle to develop students’ skills in the processes of preproduction and production of audiovisual content and their adaptation to new means of content transmission, through the development of various audiovisual projects for the New Media

The boundaries between design, visual communication and visual arts practices are becoming increasingly blurred. Our MA Design encourages a healthy interplay of work and ideas between disciplines. This is a practical design course, grounded in professional development and research. We encourage you to work independently and collaboratively alongside students of curation, graphic design, photography, illustration, and other Design and Fine Art specialisms to build a strong professional and critical context for your practice.

The master’s degree course in Anthropology and visual studies offers the possibility of a fully disciplinary specialization, thanks to the presence of a differentiated offer of anthropological teachings of classical cut, which however focus on the emerging themes of contemporaneity, and at the same time to practice interdisciplinary paths, in particular those aimed at artistic and communicative practices, at cultural representations, experimenting an original weaving with the area of visual studies, thanks to the contributions of semiology, qualitative sociology, spectacle disciplines.
