The MEd in Elementary Education at Springfield College prepares educators for initial licensure as an elementary education teacher for grades 1-6. Through our program, which features pre-practicum and practicum field experiences, teachers will gain increased awareness of the social and emotional needs of elementary students and the principles for creating safe and effective schools. All students entering the program will be required to meet the subject matter knowledge requirements as identified by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The MEd/MS in Psychology: Athletic Counseling at Springfield College combines training in both applied and research areas of sport and performance-related counseling, as shown through our sample two-year plan of study. The Master of Social Work: Advanced Standing Program at Springfield College prepares social workers for professional practice. Students graduate well-equipped to work at the individual, family, group, organization, and community levels with evidence-based and knowledge-guided practice. The advanced standing program is for highly qualified graduates of Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) programs. The BSW program must be accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and the BSW must have been successfully completed within five years of enrollment in the Springfield College Master of Social Work program. The content and quality of the weekday and weekend programs are the same. This program also requires one field practicum and two field seminars. The field practicum takes place during weekday business hours.

The MEd in Educational Studies: Early Childhood Education at Springfield College provides in-service and pre-service Early Childhood teachers with the skills to create learning environments that support young people in their physical, academic, and social-emotional development. The program offers a combination of courses for teachers who work with students in grades PreK through grade 2. The program is designed to lead to the initial license in Early Childhood Education. All students entering the program are required to meet the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure regulations, including completing a practicum experience split between grades PreK through kindergarten and grades 1 and 2.

The online MEd in Adventure Education at Springfield College is designed to promote career advancement, enhance an earned related undergraduate degree, and/or to provide advanced academic training for individuals employed or planning to seek employment as physical educators, recreation leaders, and/or youth development professionals in academic, community, and youth serving agencies. Graduate students enrolled in this program will choose adventure education to refine and enhance their knowledge and skills in the use of adventure and team development. The core of the adventure education graduate degree centers around critical components within the field: theory, risk assessment, programmatic design and implementation of experiential education programs. The selective portion of the curriculum is designed for students to work with their advisors to select courses that meet their individual academic, personal and professional needs.

Springfield College emerged as a leader in athletic training education in 1925 when we first began offering prevention and care of athletic injury courses. The MS in Athletic Training at Springfield College is designed for students who wish to gain the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to provide quality health care to those engaged in physically active lifestyles. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) examination. After successful completion of this exam, graduates will be a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Most states also require licensure in order to practice.
