The Master of Science Degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology provides a comprehensive slate of I/O-specific courses designed to prepare students for immediate entry into careers in applied settings. Academic coursework is supplemented with an applied externship completed for academic credit. The program requirements provide excellent preparation for those interested in pursuing a Ph.D. upon completion of the MS. The course of study also includes a strong, five-course quantitative sequence in research methodology, statistics, and measurement. I/O students are expected to become competent in theory, research, and application of psychology as each relates to human behavior in private and public organizations.

The Master of Science in Computer Science degree program provides students with academic and professional opportunities at three levels. At the first level, the program allows individuals with a baccalaureate degree in computer science (or a related field) to broaden their knowledge of the subject as well as strengthen their professional marketability and increase their earning potential. At the second level, the M.S. in Computer Science program can be an avenue for career change to computer science for those who have degrees and employment in other fields. Lastly, at the third level, the M.S. in Computer Science program provides individuals a strong foundation for graduate study at the doctoral level.

The Department of Nursing offers a hybrid online graduate program leading to the Master of Science in Nursing. Every student completes a series of core courses and selects from one of three concentrations/specializations: Advanced Community/Public Health Nursing, Population Health for Clinical Nurse Leaders, and Nurse Educator.

These are derived from the M.S. program in Earth and Environmental Sciences (MSEES) that we established about fifteen years ago under the quarter system. These programs are hosted collaboratively by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Geological Sciences.

We are happy you are interested in considering a graduate degree in counseling. We offer a robust and exciting curriculum, to prepare students for a rewarding career in counseling in a variety of settings. As we move our program to a semester system, we are expanding the options for the degree to better meet a variety of interests! Students can be granted a master's degree concentrating in school counseling, which includes a PPS credential. Or, students can receive a master's degree concentrating in professional counseling, which meets the criteria for people interested in being certified as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LPCC). Most students entering our program elect to combine these two concentrations to meet qualifications to earn both their PPS and LPCC, opening too many exciting job possibilities.

The Master of Arts in Child Development is a 51-unit, evening program designed to provide students with an in-depth background in child growth and development. This program is targeted to students wishing to continue their studies at the graduate level in child and human development, for those currently in careers relating to children and families (e.g., early childhood education, elementary education, special education, or social service professionals), for those wishing to teach early childhood courses at a community college, and for those who plan to pursue doctoral-level studies in related fields such as child/human development, child and family studies, developmental psychology, and clinical/counseling psychology.

The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice is designed to serve the growing number of individuals in the criminal justice system who desire post-baccalaureate education, as well as those in more traditional public and private employers who may wish to acquire further education in criminal justice. The degree program offers two options. One is a thesis option designed for students who intend to pursue graduate studies beyond the M.A. level and those students who have special research interests in the criminal justice system. The examination option is for those with administrative and management goals.

The Master's of Fine Arts in Studio Art is a full-time, three-year, 90 quarter-unit terminal degree (after Fall 2020 it will be a 60 semester-unit degree), with courses that embrace the multiplicity of artistic expression, augmented with graduate-level critical art theory seminars. Students can work in any medium or range of materials and approaches they choose, and we actively encourage experimentation. High level art history and contemporary art theory classes, as well as many visiting artists, critics, curators, and other arts professionals, plus field trips and exhibition opportunities also contribute to the curriculum.
