The Program focuses on Ecology and Conservation and is led by researchers in the Biology department at Karlstad University. It is a Program for those who want to deepen their knowledge and competence in ecology and conservation to prepare for employment or further research. We focus on applied ecology and conservation issues. The Program of study begins with the resilience-based course on Ecosystem Stewardship, that provides an overview of ecosystem services and their management. We follow with a course on applied Ecological Resource Management: The second term starts with an advanced course on Landscape Ecology and finishes with an Advanced Methods course. Students have space for elective courses to sharpen their own focus in the second year of studies. Finally the Masters project is an advanced research project within our extensive research network in Sweden and abroad.

Collaborate closely with internationally renowned researchers as well as both locally and globally connected businesses. This is full-time course of study. Throughout the program instruction is given in the form of lectures, exercises, case studies, seminars, project work, and oral and written presentations. Students are expected to participate actively in class and study extensively on their own.

The Master Program in Information Systems is a Master´s level, two-year Program with a major in Information Systems, and with an option to complete one's studies after one year obtaining a 1-year Master exam. The Program offers students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge within the Information Systems field and to develop the skills needed to analyse and design e-service architectures across organisational and technical system boundaries. This program is intended for anyone who has a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor in energy and / or environmental engineering or related fields and who want to move on to a Master of Science degree. As an MSc in energy and environmental technologies, you can work nationally and internationally to create energy efficient products and systems. Solid knowledge of environmental engineering, energy processes, fluid mechanics and heat and mass transport is necessary to create energy-efficient systems. Your ability to see environmental and energy systems from different perspectives is necessary to develop processes and products that promote sustainable development. The impact of globalisation and social change will increasingly affect working life structures and conditions in the twenty-first century. This Master level Program provides knowledge of these changes and a critical and analytical approach to them. Students learn to assess current trends in society and in working life. This Program is carried out in collaboration with the University of Gotheburg and the University of Borås. Lectures/seminars can take place at either of these universities or Karlstad University. Some distance learning activities will also be used.
