13 Speech and Language Therapy Masters Degree Programs

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) help everyone from infants to aging adults overcome communication disorders. Some SLPs work with children in schools to improve their articulation, language, fluency, or voice. Others provide acute care in hospitals for patients with neurological conditions. Still others assist very young children recovering from cleft palates, feeding disorders, or autism spectrum diagnoses.

This MSc is an accredited professional programme leading to qualification as a speech and language therapist (SLT). The programme integrates theory with work-based clinical placements with adults and children with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties. As a result, many of our students are offered jobs very soon after completing the course and graduates from our course are highly regarded by employers.

The MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (Professional Qualification) is offered over two years full-time as a route to qualification for professional practice for applicants who have already attained a degree. The program has approval from the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists.

The study cycle aims to create a Masters of excellence in Speech therapy. The principal aim is to develop advanced competencies in the assessment and intervention of children and adults with speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders. The master has three paths:

Home to the National Centre for Audiology and the H.A. Leeper Speech and Hearing Clinic, the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) educates students in the professions of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

Our graduate students and senior-level undergraduate students gain experience providing speech and hearing services in the campus-based AAMU Speech and Hearing Clinic and externship sites across the state. This degree program contains both academic and clinical components.
