This MSc Program Psychology and Environmental Sustainability is part of the response of Psychology to the climate emergency the world is experiencing today. In recent years Psychology scholars and their professional associations – for example, the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Portuguese Order of Psychologists (OPP) - began to mobilize to encourage academics to apply knowledge from all subdomains in Psychology toward understanding environment-related human attitudes and habits, and to foster pro-environmental behavior of both individuals and organizations.

The master's degree in Psychology and Human Resource Development at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, was designed in partnership with the Católica Porto Business School, with the main objective of guaranteeing a multidisciplinary training offer that prepares professionals, in the field of Psychology, for the development of human resources in an organizational context.

Psychology applied to Business and Economics, as a vibrant and valuable area for research and teaching, has attracted the interest of top universities worldwide. This new Master’s Degree in Psychology in Business and Economics is the first program in Portugal to specifically address this important area. The Master in Psychology in Business and Economics includes strong psychological foundations, structured and directly applied to the fields of economics and business, in order to enlarge opportunities for psychologists to meaningfully contribute to organizations.

The course is structured in accordance with EUROPSY and aims to prepare the student for independent professional practice as a Psychologist in the clinical and health area or for pursuing studies in a 3rd cycle, enabling him to undertake a professional internship with the Order of Portuguese Psychologists. It aims to develop skills such as in-depth understanding of theoretical models, constructs and processes, the application of methods, techniques and instruments of psychological assessment and intervention, the interpretation and communication of results, the understanding and application of research methodologies, commitment to obligations deontological and ethical issues and the critical interpretation of scientific production.

The construction and implementation of this Course is part of a joint project of collaboration with several Portuguese and European Universities, namely with the University of Barcelona, ​​with the University of Rome, with the University of Essen, and with the University of Birmingham. The Master in Community Psychology aims to deepen models, theories, and techniques related to Community Psychology, thus enabling the development of skills that allow professional practice as well as conducting research work in this area.
