12 Optics Masters Degree Programs

The MS degree having concentrations in Optics and/or Photonics, require 30 graduate credit hours. With a fully ONLINE option now available, our M.S. in Optics and Photonics is a flexible degree designed for students with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering or related fields. Taught by world-renowned experts at UCF’s College of Optics and Photonics, the program offers students an in-depth curriculum that covers topics including electromagnetics, physical optics, lasers, optoelectronics, fiber optics, imaging, and more.

The Master’s Degree in Physics and Laser Technology is a joint Master degree with the University of Salamanca (area of Optics, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Fundamental Physics), the University of Valladolid (area of Optics from the Department of Theoretical Physics, Atomic Physics, and Optics and the Group of Semiconductors from the Department of Physics of Condensed Matter, Crystallography and Mineralogy, Department of Signal Theory and Communications and Telematics Engineering) and the Center for Ultra-short and Ultra-intense Pulsed Laser (CLPU). This master's degree is aimed at training specialists in lasers in general, but with special attention to the high-power field and ultra-short pulses. Although it has an eminently practical focus, it also includes an important component on the theoretical foundations of applied optics.

This program prepares highly qualified specialists with the skills to analyse and solve complex scientific, technological, and industrial challenges. Students learn to identify key issues, evaluate innovative solutions, and lead research teams, gaining expertise that opens career opportunities in scientific laboratories and optical technology companies.

The MSc in Optical Engineering covers the fundamental concepts of modern optical and photonic engineering. This involves studying the principles of lasers, optical technology and the practical aspects of their design, fabrication, and applications.

The Official Master's Degree in Visual Rehabilitation arises as a response to the need for training in the socio-healthcare field for those students and professionals who participate in the process of integration of people with low vision or visual impairment. The integration, adaptation and social inclusion of these people can only be understood from the point of view of a social-health institution that has an interdisciplinary team of professionals capable of attending and solving, with excellent qualifications, the health and social demands and the needs of this group of patients. It is aimed at students and professionals interested in visual disability, in any of its aspects: visual, psychological or social.

The aim of the M.Sc. The program in Electro-Optical Engineering is to provide students with research expertise and advanced knowledge in electro-optical and photonics engineering. M.Sc. students carry out thesis research supervised by an EOPE faculty member or by relevant faculty members from other departments. Students graduating with an M.Sc. degree are qualified for senior R&D positions in the industry and may continue toward their Ph.D. studies.
