7 Modern Literature Masters Degree Programs

Taught in collaboration with the British Library, explore early modern literary texts through critical lenses such as race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexuality, religion and nationality, and acquire bespoke tools to study neglected texts and to decide why they matter, what key questions they can answer about the early modern period and our own time, and how they should be edited and re-presented to modern readers.

In the Modern Literature and Culture master’s program, you'll explore 19th- and 20th-century literature and culture from Britain, North America, and the English-speaking world. From Victorian novels to postcolonial life writing, this MA offers diverse topics and the opportunity to study literature across periods.

The MLitt in Modern and Contemporary Literature and Culture explores the key texts, contexts, and theories that have shaped literature and culture from 1900 to the present. The MLitt in Modern and Contemporary Literature and Culture is an intensive one-year taught program run by the School of English.

Specialists in literatures in different languages and from almost a dozen national traditions introduce you to a broad range of theoretical and methodological perspectives.
