The Master of International Studies (MIntSt) degree requires at least twelve months of full-time study and entails an intensive program of postgraduate coursework and research in the multi-disciplinary field of International Studies. The aim is to develop in candidates the analytical skills and knowledge essential to understanding the contemporary world.

The one-year programme "European Integration and Global Studies" of the Master in Advanced European and International Studies takes place in Berlin-Nice-Rome/Istanbul. It is taught in English.

The Master of International Development and Planning is a 12 month (full time) course work Masters degree, that includes a research dissertation. The degree combines an enhanced understanding of development issues and needs, with the professional skills and competencies that professional planning education provides.

In Research Degrees (PhD/MPhil) in Global Studies the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD) welcomes applications from prospective MPhil/PhD students wishing to undertake multi-disciplinary research in areas of global studies that relate to the research interests of Centre members and the Centre’s research programmes.

The Master of Arts in International Studies (MAIS) is a two-year programme (120 ECTS) in English, which promotes interdisciplinary learning in a global context. Our MA programme equips students with critical analytical skills to address contemporary global issues. Focusing on some of the most relevant contemporary challenges such as climate change, energy transition, human rights, and military and technological competition, our program blends diverse disciplinary insights, including international relations, history, political theory, international law, and macroeconomics. Our students are also expected to acquire an excellent command of a second foreign language: French, German, Russian, or Spanish. The option of a third foreign language (Arabic or Chinese) is also available. Our graduates are trained to successfully pursue a career in diplomacy, international organizations, multinational corporations, and NGOs.

Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international private Master in Global Studies degree awarded by the school's main campus in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned, and upon the recommendation of the school's Academic Council.

The MA in International Studies is a one year, full-time program which uses the disciplinary insights provided by international relations theories to investigate and explain contemporary international issues such as terrorism, nuclear proliferation, global inequality and child soldiers. Core modules are supplemented by a wide range of departmental electives, allowing students develop expertise in areas of their own interests.

The Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale) in European and International Studies (MEIS) at the School of International Studies (SIS) is the fruit of a close collaboration between the Departments of Economics and Management, Sociology and Social Research, Humanities, and the Faculty of Law. The multidisciplinary organization of MEIS enables students to develop a deeper and broader understanding of the transformations taking place in the European and international contexts.

The Master in Advanced European and International Studies - Applied European Policy and Governance Studies is a one-year programme which is taught in two languages (English and French), with a trilingual option in German. The Master takes place in Nice-Brussels-Berlin. Learn about European integration, international relations, EU policies and economics, participate in professional skills workshops and career coachings, improve your linguistic skills and acquire the competences to become a Policy Officer in international organisations. A special feature of this programme is the applied component at the crossroads of theory and practice.

The Graduate Diploma/Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics (International) is a one-year taught programme and is offered on a full-time basis using a combination of faculty-student contact hours and self-directed learning and research. The MA is about exploring language in use in a wide variety of real-world situations and contexts (education, politics and wider society). The MA has a strong international focus both in practical terms with the possibility of an overseas semester, as well as advanced language options in English as a Foreign Language, French, German, Spanish (all languages may not run each year), and in theoretical terms reflecting faculty research interest in language and globalisation.

The Master of Peace and Conflict Studies is an inter-disciplinary Program providing students with an advanced qualification in peace and conflict studies, development and peacebuilding. Drawing upon national and international expertise in the field, this Program will position graduates for a wide range of career options in the public and private sectors as academic researchers and as practitioners and policy makers in fields such as conflict analysis and resolution, peace-building, and post-conflict transformation.
